Just poppin' on to say that at my prenatal and u/s today, i asked if they could get my hubby the whooping cough vaccine, too. (I got mine a few weeks back.) They made him a little chart & we got him his shot, and he hates needles, so he was quite the trooper. I think it helps that I didn't tell him i was going to ask for him to get it so I pretty much sabotaged him. Heh.
I asked how often my "women's center" has male patients, and they said a few--but they're all babies. Gettin' "circs." Hubby nearly agreed to this, too, until I explained to him that "circs" is short for circumcision. Never mind!
Re: Hubby is a Trooper
lol I hardly think this makes him a trooper! He got 1 tiny needle and you get to push a watermelon sized baby out of a lemon sized opening!
I'm surprised you got a pertussis vaccine, my doctors wouldn't give me one while still pregnant...?
Brady Phoenix, 8.29.09
Claire Zoe, 10.26.10
Currently going through our second deployment. Can't wait for Zoe to meet her daddy!
Mine is military, too, but the doc on board his sub is lazy and doesn't give out the vaccines on time or sometimes at all. There were three or four shots the guys were supposed to get pre-deployment, some only got one or two of them. I think my SO only got two.
And he hasn't gotten the flu shot yet. UGH.
Also, I asked at my OB about the whooping cough vaccine, and they told me to ask my pediatrician because they had no clue. Granted, my appointment was with the APRN and not an actual doctor, but still. It seemed fishy they didn't know anything about it.
