TTC After a Loss

MRI

scheduled hopefully for next week (doc is supposed to call tomorrow)- this headache is driving me nuts (sunday will be one month of a headache every single day)- ive been on steroids (for atypical migraine), antibiotics (presumed sinus infection) and nothing has helped- spoke with my MD today and talked her into the MRI- i told her i would feel more comfortable moving forward more aggressively treatment wise when i knew there wasn't anything growing in my head- but now im nervous- i had an MRI when i was a teenager (also headache related) and i dont remember it being enjoyable at all.

Re: MRI

  • Good luck at your MRI next week.  That has been a super long time to have a HA.  I hope they go away, but really hope they don't find anything on your scans if you know what I mean.

  • Head MRIs aren't that bad at all- I go for them regularly thanks to the tumor that has made TTC such a journey for us. Anyhow, you have to stay still, but they put your head into this helmet type thing to help, they only put you into the MRI machine down to your shoulders, which limits the claustrophobia, and it takes I want to say about 30-45 min on the table. I get a shot near the end for contrast, but not everybody will need that. Hope the headache clears soon!

  • Also have a brain tumor so I am familiar with the head MRI.  Like PP said they put your head in a helmet so you don't have to strain so that makes it easier.  AND I'm pretty sure they give you headphones to listen to or at least they do at my hospital.  Hopefully they do- it makes the time go by faster.  GL!

  • I've had a head MRI (for dizziness).  I actually fell asleep during it.  They wouldn't let me eat or drink anything before it and I was already sleep deprived before I was too nervous to sleep the night before.  It was also at 8:30 a.m.  Thankfully, they put earplugs in my ears and the rhythmic banging and inability to move knocked me out.  It went by pretty fast thanks to my nap and the requirement that I close my eyes.  I hope yours goes by as quickly and painlessly as mine and that they figure out what's causing your headache!

  • I hope the MRI goes well for you and that you get some answers.  The only MRI I've had is on my knee, so I'm not much help with this.  Sorry :(

  • Good luck on the MRI. I had one at 19 for my Gallbladder, but don't really remember it.  Hopefully you get an answer for your headaches soon.  I have really bad sinus problems and tend to have a lot of headaches during the spring and fall, but couldn't imagine having headaches for a full month with no break.

  • Sorry for the headache and having to do an MRI. I have had one on my shoulder and my wrist, neither were near as bad as I was expecting. You will do great! GL
