3rd Trimester

Who wants to share their hospital bag list?

After my hurried bag packing at 4 am last night, I think I should probably devote some time tonight to being sure it's really and truly packed and ready to go.  Anyone want to share your list - I accidentally deleted mine from DD (which was super-frustrating last night).

Re: Who wants to share their hospital bag list?

  • I just started packing mine today. So far I have:

Two pairs of my socks (the extra comfy ones!).

And entire outfit for my SO (in case he comes from work).

Gilmore Girls season 4 (there's a DVD player in the labor rooms).

    Hand lotion.

    Deodorant.

A notebook that I use to write letters to my baby.

    Snacks for my SO.

    I still need to find:

    Chapstick.

    A deck of cards.

    Going home outfit for baby.

    ???

    I'm debating bringing:

A couple of my own pillows.

    Boppy.

  • Loading the player...
  • Just for fun, I have two bags:

     Labor Bag:

    Snacks

    Phones/Chargers

    Non-Skid Socks

    Robe

    Money for Valet/Vending Machines

    All paperwork

    Magazines

    iPod/Charger

    Camera

    Hair Ties/Headband

    Chapstick

    Recovery Bag:

Pajamas (after much debating, I'm bringing them even though they say they will get dirty)

    Change of clothes for DH

    Pajamas for DH

Breastfeeding Necessities (Nursing bras, lanolin, breast pads, breastfeeding books)

Makeup/Toiletries (We'll see if I get to use the makeup)

Maxi Pads (I got the always infiniti overnight kind, I hope they're enough)

Granny panties (in case you hate the mesh panties they give you)

    Diaper Bag:

I'm the overprepared type, it's good to have to take home all the baby goodies they give you anyhow.

    Diapers

    Wipes

    Two coming home outfits

    Two Pairs baby socks

    Swaddling blanket

Nail trimmers (I hear they won't do it for you)

Newborn mittens (to protect him from scratching his face)

I'm sure there's more I'm forgetting, but it looks good to me!

  • Is it weird that I've considered buying a pack of depends? I figure they have to be more comfortable than mesh panties and a gaint pad just in your crotch.  I hate granny panties anyway and I'd feel like I was wearing a diaper so why not just wear an fvcking diaper.

ETA: Other than considering depends my list looks just like pp. Oh! I added swim trunks for DH just in case I make him get in the shower with me during or after labor.

  • I also bought all new toiletries that I plan on tossing because I'm a germaphobe, hahahaaaa!  I just went to Wally World and bought trial size soap, shampoo, toothpaste, etc.
  • Hi jumped over from 0-3 board. Some advice if you want it.  I didn't feel like taking a shower while at the hospital.  I was sore and tired and just wanted to lay in bed.  I also got hungry when I was able to eat, the cafeteria closes at a certain time, and I could order only three meals a day, so if I got hungry in between time, I was SOL.  I packed my DH snacks, but should have brought some for me too. DS slept a lot in the hospital, so other than seeing visitors, I watched a lot of TV. Pillows from home helped! I didn't mind the mesh panties and the pad, I was too sore to care, I think.  My hospital doesn't do newborn pics anymore, so didn't need photo outfit. And they have all the wipes, diapers, and baby stuff you'll need, so I wouldn't waste time or space with that. That's my two cents, take it if you want, or not.

Thanks - this is my second, so I've already experienced a lot of those fun surprises.  I agree with you on pretty much all of the above, except that I wanted a shower at the hospital like NOBODY's business and it was glorious when I finally took one.  So I'm all about my own toiletries, some decent lotion, and some clean clothes.  Probably my own towel too - those hospital ones were SOOOO scratchy!

  • I just packed for a two day trip...lol. and extra chapstick and some hard candies. Oh and my camara and extra batteries. (Batteries were dead with the first LO and I had to have my mom pay double at the hospital gift shop. I felt awful for that.) But other then that just think of what your hospital will offer you and try not to over pack. Also think of how many days your hospital requires you to stay. Some are just two like mine, but some close friends have to stay three or four because of hospital regulations.
  • I plan on having a coming home outfit for both me and little one, nursing pads, phone, computer, blankets, and my breastfeeding book. Our hospital says they provide everything else we will need and also we live about 15 minutes from the hospital if we really need something else.
    Baby Birthday Ticker Ticker
  • I've packed pretty much what everyone else listed, but I'm also bringing my own hair dryer and curling iron. Because I feel better when I look better. That's just how I [vainly] roll.

I also bought some Sport Beans and Honey Stinger Chews for during labor. This is an endurance event, right?!

  • I have a list but I have no packed my bag yet. I am having a c-section so it isn't a lot of stuff.

    - Extra pillow

    - A cozy throw blanket  (because the hospital blankets suck.)

    - 4-5 long night shirts

    - computer and charger

    - Hairbrush, tooth brush and paste, eyeglass cleaner, and lotion

    - Makeup (so I don't look to bad in pictures)

    - Digital camera and charger

    - Socks with aloe in them (They are the best and super cozy)

    - Money order for birth certificate

    - Wallet

    - DH's Stuff

    - Diaper bag with bring home outfit.

---- And some other stuff but I am not looking at the list right now.
