My mother sent a very generous gift in the mail today for DD. A beautiful red sweater set-knitted hat, sweater, and booties.
It's obviously handmade (but she didn't make it, i think she bought it at the farmer's market) and probably really expensive. The note said how she couldn't wait to see DD in it at Christmas.
The problem is it's too small. It's a 3 month size and DD is almost in 6 month clothes.
What do I do? I doubt she can exchange it or return it, otherwise she probably would have gotten a larger size to begin with. I'm thinking she got this size because it was the only red one maybe.
Do I tell her the truth or do I squeeze DD into it? There's no way to do that with the hat though.

I guess when I first read it, I thought, what option do you have other than telling her that it's too small? Can you actually squeeze DD into the dress? If she's already in 6-months size then your DD won't be able to even fit into a 3-month old size?
Yeah, I guess I'll tell her. I just doubt she'll be honest with me. If she can't exchange it she'll probably buy another one and send that to me
Honestly I just hate the thought of her spending all this $$ (maybe twice!) I know she was excited about this and I don't want to make her sad. It is making me sad already!
