typically my LO won't eat meat yet although I'll give her whatever meat we have for dinner to try, but she never eats it. the only thing i have found that works is to make a casserole type dish - usually i do pasta, ground turkey (or other ground meat), mixed veggies (frozen organic ones that are already small pieces, like a veggie medley of peas, corn, carrot pieces) and a cheese sauce. I portion it in muffin trays and freeze and then usually reheat these for dinner for her. she loves this and its the only way i get her to eat meat or veggies without being a puree mixed in a fruit puree.

I steamed some ground meat and ran it through the handi chopper, and my baby gagged on it.
Not that I'm always in favor of this, but I suggest flavoring it with something yummy, or sweetening with a little tiny bit of brown sugar before serving it.
Even I admit that the plain ground meat smelled like dog food. And I buy organic, hormone free, grass fed beef for my baby.
Next time, I'm mixing in some veggies and a little teeny bit of brown sugar to make it more palatable.
DS first meat was chicken which we pureed with a bit of peach. Last night he got pieces of chicken that were baked in a tomato sauce w/capers & olives. I then cut it up into little bite sized pieces and he did fine. We haven't tried ground meat yet, but I'd think if he could eat the chicken like last night, the ground would work as well. The only issue I could for-see with ground is it breaks apart and he could inhale it, literally rather than chew it. DS does that sometimes when the pieces are too small causing him to choke a bit.
That all said, i would also season it a little. For DS we don't use salt or pepper, but used things like basil, oregano, cinnamon, coriander..... those are good ones to use on lamb anyway. or possibly saute it in a little apple juice.

Actually the only time we've given Sam meat is when we made chicken marsala. I just took some of our leftovers and pureed it. It was the texture of pate and was quite delicious! He scarfed it up. Now I don't want to give him something that we wouldn't eat I need to make more casserole type dishes to share with him...
