babywearing newborn rec's and germs

I'm due at the end of November and would like to still be able to go out.  I'm concerned that family will want to pass around the baby like a hot potato and it will be during flu season.  I was thinking a snug babywearing sling may preven some of that.  Any recommendations or your thoughts on the matter?  Am I just being paranoid?

  • IMO, never to paranoid with the health and safety of LO!  =)

I used the Moby pretty much all the time when DS was a newborn.  It kept him nice and snug and able to sleep (even when we were out or had guests) and it also kept him from being a 'hot potato' =)  Also, even now nobody holds the baby without washing hands first.

Fortunate to be a SAHM to my 3 musketeers (5/2006, 5/2010 & 12/2011). Soy & dairy free for the 3rd and final time. Lilypie Kids Birthday tickers Lilypie Second Birthday tickers Lilypie First Birthday tickers imageimage

  • When they were itty bitties, I used a moby style most of the time (and a sling sometimes).  It worked out great for that sort of thing!  When they were sleeping,  I could tuck the back of their head in the wrap and keep them even closer to my chest.  I found that *most* people admired, but didn't touch a baby that was snug against my chest.  I think they are scared of missing baby and touching me ;)  Now, I did take some heat for not 'getting them out of there' and "why do you have them in there all of the time" or wow, when you get tired of that thing, I'll hold him for you!  But it worked. Cool
  • Thanks Ladies!  Looks like I'll be getting a moby Wink
