I bought a pack of three sing-a-long compilation DVDs, and one of them was recorded in 1987! They re-formatted it for the DVD. Of course, the outside case said nothing about it being so old, and I had no idea until I watched it, and then checked the copyright date.
I think it's kind of cool to watch such old segments. It's very nostalgic. But DD wants absolutely nothing to do with it (although she loves the other modern ones). I guess she's already caught up in modern pop culture. And she is not happy at all that there is no Elmo.
Re: I accidentally got DD a 23 year old Sesame Street show
I'm borrowing the first season of Sesame Street on dvd from a friend. I watched some of it, but haven't shown it to DS yet. I never even thought he wouldn't like it! I wonder how he'll react! I loved it! haha
I'm dying at you guys saying 1987 and the 1990s are retro.
Dying.
This.
I think I got the exact same 3-pack, did you get it at Sam's?
My DD actually likes them, especially the "Stomp" one. I get a kick out of it too, and I love the 80's-tacular outfits!
I got it from Walmart. The one from 1987 is a sing-a-long special, then there's a Country Music one that seems to be from the early 2000s, or maybe late '90s. It has Johnny Cash singing a song with a muppet, which I thought was really cool. The 3rd one also seems to be early 2000s, and is a Kareoke (sp?) inspired one, and has Destiny's Child performing, which I also thought was very cool.
The outfits in the 1987 are definitely awesome! I saw a few that I'm pretty sure I had back when I was three years old.
This!
