Hi ladies,
Have any of you ever had a group beta strep infection but not pregnant? Went to the OB/GYN last week and had a culture done? Cultures results came back as showing Group Beta Strep. OB stated to take a one week course of antibiotics.
I have never had anything like this before. How does it come about?
Any thoughts?

it's normal. even men can get GBS. here is some info i found
Sometimes group B strep can cause mild disease in adults, such as urinary tract infections (UTIs, also called bladder infections). These are treated the same way urinary tract infections caused by other bacteria are treated, with antibiotics, and are usually not that serious.
Among men and among women who are NOT pregnant, the most common diseases caused by GBS are blood infections, skin or soft tissue infections and pneumonia.

So, why would they test for it and treat it unless it's causing some issue?
