i had my surgery on friday and the frozen section revealed it was cancer and did spread to one lymph node. they took out about 98 percent of my thyroid. i was released home yesterday and sooooo glad to be home! i will do radioactive iodine ablation in about a month which will mean i will be quarantined for 4 days while doing treatment. the worst part is that i will have to stop breastfeeding. it breaks my heart since breastfeeding is something that is so dear to me, but if it means saving my life, then that is more important to my daughter than breastfeeding.
thanks again ladies for all your prayers and thoughts and i can continue to use them. i dont know how i will survive 4 days in the hospital being completely cut off from the world - but i know i will come out of this a stronger person in the end. thanks again.
Re: home from the hospital - and i have cancer
Oh my. Damn. I'm soo sorry.
I'll be keeping you and your family in my thoughts and prayers.
I'm so sorry - I was hoping you wouldn't get that news. You will continue to be in my prayers. I am glad you have a clear treatment path, and I hope it all goes smoothly.
I *think* there was someone else on this board who did the isolation therapy. Her name is Sophie, but I can't remember her screen name. May be worth a page (though I could have this completely wrong).
Best of luck to you.

Was that kouiii? I think that's her name. Anyway, M, I'm glad they caught it early and living without a thyroid is really no big deal in the long run. Good luck with the radiation and hopefully that will be all that you'll have to deal with. (((hugs)))
I'm so sorry to hear this
Big hugs for you and the family!!!
One of our closest friends just had thyroid surgery and went through a 3-day isolation therapy as well. He actually stayed in his house and everyone else left... which made the experience a lot easier for him. He basically just lived on heavy sheets on the couch and ate off paper plates. I think the hardest thing for him was drinking water every hour.
Good luck with everything!!
I am sorry to hear about this but I know you will come out a stronger woman after this.
I will continue to have you in my thoughts and prayers.
I am so so sorry you are having to go through this. Lots of thoughts, prayers and hugs to you and your entire family.
I'm so sorry to hear this news. I hope you recover well.
And I'm personally really sad to hear this. It scares me silly as I had similar symptoms and didn't do the biopsy or even a baseline scan.
It wasn't offered as an option. I just did blood work and hoped it would get better. This is the kick in the butt I need to go back and ask for more testing. Thank you.
