1st Trimester

the boss can be checked off!

i feel proud of myself as i told my principal today. i'm a new hire and don;t really see him all that often so i haven't built much of a rapport with him. i think he might have been a little giddy! again, totally unexpected. he said it was perfect timing (seems to be a popular remark when i tell people) he then told me about all his nieces and nephews. i'm so glad that's done...it was sort of an awkward moment for me. onto the rest of my staff tomorrow night! phew, this is exhausting!

Re: the boss can be checked off!

  • I'm glad it went well for you.  GL telling everyone else.

  • I bet he means good timing since you're due in May/June which means you won't have to miss school and you'll be back for the beginning of the next school year Wink
  • exactly! he said we have plenty of time to find someone good to fill in! i can;t even begin to think about the planning i'll have to do!

  • I'm sure its different everywhere but I was only responsible for planning for 2 weeks of my maternity leave.  At that point it was up to the sub to "continue on" with the plans based on what I had left.  It was cake for me since I had already taught the same material for 4 years.
  • ugh, i hope that's true for me. this is my second year teaching but first year teaching grade 2. i'm overwhelmed with planning right now! i'm sure by the end of may it will be pretty easy. it does suck that i won't be there to see my kids end the year. i'll have to come back on the last day or something! probably not such a good idea to bring a few week old baby to a school though!
  • I remember when I told me principal it was becuase I was sick all morning at school.  He told me that throwing up is one symptom - later that day he did say congrats.  I think I confused the poor guy.

But yeah for telling him. It is very good timing for you.   When are you going to tell your students?
