Oddest shower gift?

While I definitely appreciate everyone's thoughtfulness who got me shower gifts, there is one gift I got that kind of irks me...my boss got me a mobile and matching lamp that I did not register for, do not match my nursery/or the fact that the baby is a girl, and are not returnable.  I think she knows I don't like her.

What is your oddest/least useful gift?

Re: Oddest shower gift?

  • Sounds like a regift to me...or a clearance item.  Why aren't they returnable?  You may be able to sell them or donate them...

I think the thing that irritates me the most is when people give you hand me downs that are stained up from their baby.  I'm all about hand me downs, especially seeing that this LO will be wearing all of DS1s clothing that is still in good shape, but anything that DS stained, got thrown away.  I won't be dressing my kids in my own stained up clothing let alone giving them to someone else to use.

I think they are from TJ Maxx, Ross, or Marshalls, but my boss did not give me a receipt and she wrote on the box.  I plan on donating them.  I am sure someone can use them (who isn't already 7 months pregnant with a nursery already done!).

Okay so not bad odd, just odd odd. My mother is getting me a GPS for our car as a baby shower gift, her reasoning? I have a horrible sense of direction and she isn't okay with me getting lost with HER granddaughter in the car.

She was fine with me getting lost before, and doesn't mind if I get lost while I'm pregnant...but it's just not acceptable once her granddaughter is here.

I'm not complaining, laughing a little, but not complaining, plus she's pretty much spot on, I only know left and right when I can make an "L" with my hands.

That does seem kinda odd, but hey, Free GPS!  If someone wants to get me a gym membership for my post baby body I would be more than ecstatic that I didn't register for it Stick out tongue  I also, even though im 23, still have a hard time remembering left and right.  If I am giving someone directions, I have to turn my entire body to determine whether they need to turn Right or Left.  Ha!

I think your my soulmate. LOL!

  • oooh yay.  1st shower is today so I can't wait to see what I'll get!  The weirdest gift to date was one of DH's male friends who bought us a package of outlet covers, and a package of pacifiers.  Not that those are odd gifts, but I thought that was such a funny combination...  very "single male"  picking things off the registry he thinks will help.  I loved it!

This is too awesome. I have my shower on Oct. 16 and I can't wait to see what people get for us! (I just hope that MIL put on the invites to have the big stuff shipped to the house seeing as the shower is in Michigan and we live in Wyoming!)

  • Honestly, we didn't get any gifts that I didn't like. I was pretty sure we'd get some odd ones, but everything was awesome!
