WWYD

We're trying to help relieve DS's severe constipation issues by adjusting his daily dose of Miralax and giving him fiber gummies. He normally has a horrible time trying to poop and gets really backed up almost every day. Today at daycare they said he had four really messy poop diapers. I'm not sure if its because of the Miralax (3/4 of a capful), in combination with the fiber gummi I gave him this morning (we just started them this morning), or if he still has contrast in his system from yesterday's barium enema that he needed to expel. The fiber gummies say one three times a day, but we're going to start with two first, morning and night.

Because of his four blowouts today, I'm wondering if I should continue the fiber gummies, but either decrease his Miralax tomorrow or skip it? But, I'm hesitant to do that, because every time I've decreased his Miralax, I've come to regret it because he gets so constipated. We're just trying to find the right balance between the Miralax and fiber supplements. WWYD?

I read your post about him seeing a GI specialist. :( So sorry for your LO!

I do not have any experience in this dept, but I would say to stop the gummies, try for a few days and see if it helps. Blowouts are better than constipation, right?

Hope that it works out for you and your LO!

since you are just starting the gummies, I'd give 1 at night to see if it helps him go by morning. Or decrease the miralax to 1/2 & give the gummies 2-3x a day.

I'm sorry you are dealing with this!  If it were my child, I'd stick with the Miralax dose and just go with one gummi.  Better a couple of days of runs than another enema.

I agree with this completely. Poor little guy, hope you figure out the right balance soon.

I would decrease the Miralax by a little bit 1/2 cap full and try giving him the gummy at a different time.  My daughter takes miralax daily.  If we forget, she really has problems.
