While I happen to agree that it's tasteless putting the kid in the siggy (I just hate looking at that)...and also the bear joke isn't very funny...the child abuse allegations are ridiculous. Kids fall and get bruised. It's very well known that getting hit on the head can cause facial bruising, esp. under the eyes. You can get a black eye from getting hit in the forehead. I'm not a dr. but I do know that.
Child abuse is a serious allegation. I think you need more to do with your time.
I think it's tasteless to put a picture of your injured child in your siggy and make light of it.
Agreed. and to whomever said spills happen. Yes they do, and children don't look like that after a normal "spill"
Oh, really? Have you had a kid who took a serious spill, yet? When DS #1 was 14 months he was walking up our two front steps and MIL was right behind him, holding him. He slipped and his head (the bridge of his nose between his eyes) hit the edge of the step. It wasn't even a super hard hit, he just managed to get the angle just right. The knot was HUGE within 30 seconds. We went to the ER ASAP. He was fine. The ER doctor was like "so, you guys are 1st time parents, heh?"
The next day all of the inflamation settled in his eyes and cheeks and he was very bruised and swollen. He was fine but all that swelling will settle and bruise.
Having actually had a kid whose had his share of spills, her story is completely believable. Think twice before you start suggesting people are lying about a child's injury.
You don't have a completely mobile kid trust me bruises and spills like that will happen!
I'm guessing my child is waaaaay more mobile than yours though.
You crack me up. You're full of *win*!
Yes, because 2 children and one bad fall makes you the expert. Okay? Or are your kids just so uncoordinated that they look like that all the time and thats why your so defensive?
ooh, snap! When do you call her sweetheart and tell her at least you know how to keep your legs shut. Or do you plan on dropping a CU Next Tuesday?
Yes, from my siggy pic you can clearly see my kids have swollen, bruised faces all the time.
I was never claiming to be the expert. I simply said "a simple fall and my kid looked pretty banged up" so her story seems rather believable.
You're an idot. I'm done with this. Nighty night. My uncoordinated, klutzy kids are up bright and early.
I don't really care what you people think. Darby fell. She was not abused. She was standing by my mom's back door, lost her balance, and face planted. She acted fine after an hour or so. We took her to the ER, had a CT Scan done, and everything came back totally normal.
She took a spill and it looks bad. Really bad. With a good caption, I make light of it. The doc wasn't a bit concerned at her condition. You can go ahead and call CPS if you want though. If anything, their findings would just prove that I am a dang good mom.
She can call CPS on me too then. PM me Scheester and I'll even send you my address. I'll make sure to sue you when you're done!

Pretty much this exactly. I'd rather not see the picture, and the joke is lame. Still doesn't mean she beats her kid up.
So here's the thing....a few weeks back for a siggy challenge I posted one of the very few photos of DD and I right after I delivered. I liked the photo but I was biased. Anyways, long story short I get told that I am immature and tasteless because well I should know that not everyone likes to see that.....(my breasts were almost showing). I don't think Shorty abused Darby. I completely believe her story. It really does depend on where the fall happened and how Darby landed. My DD has landed on her back when she fell off the bed and there was not a single scratch or bruise on her. I have a rather high bed and no carpeting either. I am completely blown away at how S got by without a mark and she only cried for like a minute.
All I am saying is that maybe Shorty doesn't see anything wrong with the picture since it was a complete accident. However, hopefully now she knows that not everyone can stomach pictures like that. Some people really can't handle blood or images of things that look painful. And if they don't know the back story they might think that the photo is even more odd.

I have worked in a toddler class in a daycare for 3 years and been a nanny for 5 so yeah I have seen plenty of spills. Maybe not from MY child yet but trust me spills happen.
The "OMG, it's child abuse" thing is starting to piss me off. There are REAL CASES OF CHILD ABUSE OUT THERE people. Children who have parents that starve them, give them drugs and alcohol, break their bones.
Darby fell. Once. Shorty is trying to cope in her own way. Sorry it doesn't match the same way you would cope.
The great thing about TB is that you can put pretty much whatever you want in your siggy as long as it's not soft core porn. (Remember diana.filipi's giant boob pic after she had DD? Love ya, DF...just an example because it caused an uproar, lol) Her picture of her daughter offends you? There is a Bumpie on 1st Tri who can give you a lesson on blocking someone's siggy.
just one more comment, because Shorty started that other thread. I am not "offended" by this picture. I just don't like it and I think the joke is in bad taste. That's my opinion and I'm entitled to it.
Let's not turn that into some drama about how you shouldn't take pictures of your kid until she is healed because we only want to see pretty pictures of babies looking all perfect. Please.
Some of you biatches are in for a rude awakening when those kiddos really get moving.
I haven't laughed this hard at a thread in ages. Thanks a ton.
OMG this times a million. I think shorty is obnoxious but to claim child abuse from that photo pretty much makes you an as$hole. Kids fall when they are mobile. It f-ing happens. If you don't like shorty, say "shorty you're obnoxious" but don't make a big deal out of nothing. It makes you look ridiculous.

I think that callouts are tacky.
The rest is ridiculous. Shorty is a great mom. I witnessed her momawesomeness for 48 hours straight. That ain't no lie.
Oh brother.
Get a freaking life.
