Hmmmm....why not just go full blown call-out and say who you are talking about?
BTW, if we are both thinking about ShortyRed's siggy...I thought it was pretty dang funny. Obviously the kid is ok, we all take spills and the caption was killer.

Really? I don't think it's funny to see a bruised up kid.

No, it wasn't the bruised up KID that was funny...it was the caption. It talks about seeing the bear...like you should see the other guy?
I think that it was just someone making lite of what was a bad situation to begin with (a bad spill?) and then the pic that they took of it. It's not like she punched her baby and made fun of her, kwim?
I think it's tasteless to put a picture of your injured child in your siggy and make light of it.
Agreed. and to whomever said spills happen. Yes they do, and children don't look like that after a normal "spill"
Maybe I don't remember it right, but I thought it was just a scratch on her forehead? I initially thought it was just a strawberry birth mark till I read the caption...
Yes, I did not find the pic funny. It kinda made me queasy. But I do not know the whole story and I am sure she feels awful about it and making light of it as she is coping. I suppose we all cannot judge unless something similar happened to our lo.

Yeah....I still don't agree. With or without a "funny" caption, it's still tasteless.

I don't know anything about any "story". I've only seen the pic once and really thought her baby just had a strawberry on her face...I didn't see a ton of bruises. I usually have Livy on my lap and am playing with her so don't pay 100% attention. As to a baby falling down the steps, no that's not funny at all. I'd be sick. Livy fell off my lap this weekend (it's the first time I've ever had her fall/drop her, ect) and I cried like a baby even though she's find.
My main objection to the OP was that if you want to call someone out, just do it. I didn't realize that anything had actually happened to the baby or I wouldn't have said anything...kwim?

Oh, really? Have you had a kid who took a serious spill, yet? When DS #1 was 14 months he was walking up our two front steps and MIL was right behind him, holding him. He slipped and his head (the bridge of his nose between his eyes) hit the edge of the step. It wasn't even a super hard hit, he just managed to get the angle just right. The knot was HUGE within 30 seconds. We went to the ER ASAP. He was fine. The ER doctor was like "so, you guys are 1st time parents, heh?"
The next day all of the inflamation settled in his eyes and cheeks and he was very bruised and swollen. He was fine but all that swelling will settle and bruise.
Having actually had a kid whose had his share of spills, her story is completely believable. Think twice before you start suggesting people are lying about a child's injury.
She took Darby to the ER to get her checked out, and she's fine. It's not like she was abused. It was obviously a traumatic event for all, and if it makes Shorty feel better to make light of it on the internet, that's her perogative. It's silly to get up in arms about someone else's siggy pic, especially if you're coming from another board to do it.

I did on Facebook. And I wasn't commenting on whether it was appropriate to post a pic or not. I can see how some people would take it wrong. To me - uhh, no big deal. I was responding to people claiming her injury did not look like it could have happened the way she claimed. And well, they obviously don't know what they are talking about.

I was actually referring to Cheekie and ILWMS, because they don't post here regularly. But, since you asked, it would make me feel oh-so-good.

Seriously? And what are you implying here?
Be careful, because when your kid accidentally falls, or pulls him/herself up on a table and smacks their little forehead on the edge (as MOST kids do at one time or another) and has a big honkin' bruise, you wouldn't want someone implying that YOU abused your child would you?

You're right, I normally don't post here. I lurk, but seeing a pic of a injured baby sorta riled me up. Whatever the reasoning, I still say it's tasteless to post a picture like that.

Oh, really? Have you had a kid who took a serious spill, yet?
I actually have. Actually the 'story' shorty told was what happened to my DS several months ago. He crawled right off the step and into the concrete. I don't believe her story for a second, I honestly do not think a child of her age could have injuries like that falling only, what, 6 inches?
Its totally my prerogative to think this though, I mean Shorty was also the one to let her child ride with out a carseat, so I really don't think she's all that great of a mom to begin with.
So yes, I will judge this. I don't think its the truth. But alas, I don't work for CPS so my opinion doesn't matter

Yeah except I wouldn't go posting it on a board for people to judge. Does she not realize people on these boards called CPS for lesser things (benedryl anyone? ) If it raises my eyebrow, its raising other peoples

I am glad you posted this!
You don't have a completely mobile kid trust me bruises and spills like that will happen!
My nephew took a spill and looked like someone had beat the crap out of him. Faces swell, bruise and bleed a lot even if it is all just superficial wounds.

D was standing. So, yeah, not 6 inches.
I get that you guys have history, and I respect that. Wrong has been done. But really? Accusing her of abuse? Don't you see how out of line that is? I am glad that C's fall didn't end that way, but that doesn't mean that no one else's kid that takes a bad spill wouldn't. I mean, hell, I get a mega bruise when I bump my leg on the sofa, and it'd take a train to bruise Bun. Don't you think babies could have similar reactions?

My son fell (he didn't even fall, his foot slipped and his head hit the step just right) about 4 inches and his head pretty much looked like her kid.
I couldn't care less about shorty. I don't like. I don't dislike her. I am not saying this as some big defense of her. I don't know if she's a good mom or not. Just stop spouting medical knowledge like your an ER doctor with15 years of experience in pediatric head injuries. You're not. Your kid fell once. This =/= you being an expert.
I'm also pretty sure if the ER doc thought her story was bogus, CPS would have been called.

Wow. You are completely out of line.
I've seen the picture.. didn't see her version of events, but YES, that crap happens. She doesn't look abused, she looks like she took a really BAD tumble. I'm pretty sure anyone guilty of abuse wouldn't post a PICTURE for all to see. Lame original UO, in my possible UO.

Yeah...when did that happen? I'm not on here that much - but whoa! Could someone fill me in because I love drama.
I looked up the picture and it's so sad - I hope DS never gets hurt like that. Poor Darby! I haven't been involved enough to even have an opinion on Shorty...other than some people love her and some people hate her. But like PP said, if the ER doc thought anything was questionable they would have called CPS.

ooh, snap! When do you call her sweetheart and tell her at least you know how to keep your legs shut. Or do you plan on dropping a CU Next Tuesday?
I don't really care what you people think. Darby fell. She was not abused. She was standing by my mom's back door, lost her balance, and face planted. She acted fine after an hour or so. We took her to the ER, had a CT Scan done, and everything came back totally normal.
She took a spill and it looks bad. Really bad. With a good caption, I make light of it. The doc wasn't a bit concerned at her condition. You can go ahead and call CPS if you want though. If anything, their findings would just prove that I am a dang good mom.
Re: My UO...
Hmmmm....why not just go full blown call-out and say who you are talking about?
BTW, if we are both thinking about ShortyRed's siggy...I thought it was pretty dang funny. Obviously the kid is ok, we all take spills and the caption was killer.

Annice... this is pretty much incredible LOL
Wait, I missed this one. If I had posted doing this, there would be nothing left of me after the flaming I'd receive.
I'm guessing my child is waaaaay more mobile than yours though.
You crack me up. You're full of *win*!
Yes, because 2 children and one bad fall makes you the expert. Okay? Or are your kids just so uncoordinated that they look like that all the time and thats why your so defensive?
