STARVING .. no idea why ..

Okay, I wanted to know if anyone else is feeling this way? Because I'm afraid I am going to be a house. This morning I've eaten a bowl of captain crunch cereal, a Yoplait Strawberry yogurt, 3 pieces of bacon, and a granola bar .. yet I feel like I haven't even eaten. I am so HUNGRY! I've also drank 2 bottles of water, and a cranberry juice. Why am I still hungry? :( I don't want to eat more because I'm not trying to eat everything in sight, but really? Is anyone else constantly hungry??

Re: STARVING .. no idea why ..

  • I have days like that... I think it's when LO is about to hit a growth spurt!  Earlier this week I had a day where I swear I did nothing but eat, and someone posted about the same thing yesterday I think.  I'm sure it's normal, but it is a bit unnerving sometimes!

  • I am constantly starving. I have to talk myself out of eating. I have eaten a huge bowl of fiber cereal, one coffee, and one apple and am like... time to eat again? Why yes, if you are wondering, I have been productive since bfast. Wink But fiber is supposed to keep you full... not if it also empties you out!
  • Try eating stuff with more protein in it.  if you like yogurt, go with greek yogurt- it is lower in fat and higher in protein than "regular" yogurts.  Protein helps you feel full longer.  Hard boiled eggs are also a great quick/easy snack full of good protein.  =]

EXACTLY what I was going to post, pp's mentioned their bfast and there was like 0 protein in it. For the AM I shoot for as much as possible. I only eat greek yogurt now because of the protein content. Pregnant women should be getting at least 70 grams a day. Smoothies are another great way to get it in. I have one every AM with greek yogurt, frozen blueberries, blueberry juice, frozen strawberries and protein powder.

    Agree with PP's!

Really OP, you have no idea why you are hungry?? No protein in anything you ate, and you are 6 months pregnant. Hmmm....whatever could be the reason?? LOL!!  Stick out tongue

OH MAN I'm going to have to stock up on some frozen fruit so I can do this now!  I LOVE fruit smoothies!!!!!!  =D

  • I'll second the protein comment.

Also, maybe cut back on your simple sugars.  Captain crunch and non greek yogurt have a lot of simple sugar.  Those process quickly and your blood sugar level isn't kept even.  Then you feel hungry again really quickly.

Hope you aren't upset that this is turning into a critique of your eating habits. I have a major sweet tooth myself but its one of those bad circular patterns.

If you skip the juice, it's really low glycemic!! I bet it's on your GD diet

I get huge frozen bags at BJ's Wholesale, it's the least expensive way to do it. The BEST powder is this one, Vanilla Ice Cream:  https://www.gnc.com/product/index.jsp?productId=3267265&CAWELAID=293850720 (you can find it for less than that, I usually pay about $40.)

  • Protein is the key to staying satisfied. I have a protein smoothie every morning. Banana, frozen strawberries, milk, and protein powder. It fills my up and keeps me that way for quite a while
  • I don't mind the critique. I do have to note though that I've eaten this way pre-pregnancy and during pregnancy and never had an issue until today. So it's just odd.

As for the protein smoothies, they do not work for me. Pre-pregnancy I drank them every morning - 2 scoops of protein, strawberries, yogurt, and some V8 juice. After a good hour I would be INCREDIBLY hungry. They really sparked my appetite for some reason.

I do not like greek yogurt at ALL! LOL. It makes me want to throw up, so unfortunately that will not work for me either. :(

I think I'll just cook myself some eggs tomorrow morning, along with my daily yogurt and see if that makes a change. Thanks for the advice though!
