1st b-day party invite etiquette?

I am putting together my DD guest list for her b-day party and i am on the fence with a few guests. They are friends of ours but we are not sooo close to them and we don't see or talk to them alot but usually always see them at events. Got it?! LOL. So, i originally thought not to invite them cause our guest list is at 60 people right now, which is alot. (we both have big families.) However, my bff said since i invited them to my baby shower that i have to invite them to the first b-day party. Is this true? I"ve been looking for info on this and can't find anything. If this is true then i would have to invite everyone from my shower plus their husbands and that would make the guest list over 100 and that's sick!!!! I"m trying to keep this a simple party as i possibly can. What would you do? Would you invite them or no?

**side note..these friends are also invited to really close friends of ours sons' first birthday party that is the week before our party. So, would we look really bad not inviting them?
