So...tell me this is a phase. DD used to nurse, read, rock and go to sleep. Occasionally there was some fussing but for the most part we could put her in her crib and she'd flip over and go to sleep. This was our norm from 9 months to last week. (She did still wake up to 2-3 times a night to nurse or cuddle and we always brought her to our bed at first night waking...).
Last week she decided that the crib was horrible torture. The screaming, crying, pounding on the sides of the crib, trying to climb out, more screaming. SO I don't know what the heck to do. I mean the only way we've been able to get her to sleep is to take her straight to bed with us. But I've got things to do....like work unfortunately.
Is this a phase? Please please let it be a phase.
Re: Sleep...crazy elusive sleep
DS did something similar for a few weeks. He had been nursing and then stopping and reaching for his crib, I'd put him down in his crib and he'd fall asleep. During this "phase" he would nurse until asleep and when I moved him to the crib he would scream and scream. I ended up bring him to bed a few nights so that I could get some sleep. He isn't back to the wanting his crib after nursing but he will let me put him down and then he will fall asleep by himself.
IMO it's a phase.
Thanks Mamas. She will sleep in our bed without me, but has to be asleep when I sneak out. Separation anxiety might be it but she does the same when her dad puts her to sleep so then I guess its equal opportunity separation anxiety. We decided last night, after she tried climbing out of the crib and launching herself headfirst onto the floor, that we're breaking down the crib and making it into the toddler bed. At the very least we can lay with her, scrunched up but still.
I did not expect us to make this transition so soon but it seems like those of you who have floor beds have had awesome results with them. So this is a baby step in that direction.
