My LO is turning one on December 10. I'm trying to figure out when to have his party. I guess this is always going to be tricky because of how close to Christmas it is. I was thinking of having it Thanksgiving weekend since a lot of family will be around but I'm on the fence. What are you guys doing for your LO's parties? Thanks!

Re: Moms of LO's with December birthdays, please come in!
DS was born Dec. 8, which is a Wednesday, so we'll have his party the weekend before, otherwise we're getting too close to Christmas.
Because his grandparents are in different parts of the country, we'll likely have one bigger one at home and a smaller one when we see his far-away gparents around Thanksgiving time.
If my LO's birthday was on the 10th I would probably have the party either the weekend before or the weekend after. However, DS birthday is the 27th...when would you plan that party?!?

DD is the 9th, I am having her party on the 11th. I'm having the hardest time with her being a winter baby. I keep thinking of things to do outside.
@AdamsWifeDD fathers birthday is on the 26th and he pretty much got the short stick when it came to his birthdays. I feel for you trying to make your LO birthday special. I'm having a hard time as it it.
I have already made it clear to all of my family that we'll have a separate birthday party every year. The sad thing is he wasn't due until January 12th. It makes me so sad that he came so early. But, we'll make the most of it and do everything we can to make him feel special on HIS day.
Sabrina's is 4 days after Xmas, 2 days before NYE- poor baby. At least she should always be off of school for it, eh?
We're really leaning toward going super big for this ONE (pun intended) and renting a place for her big par-tay on New Years Day- which is a Saturday. If her bday was earlier in the month, I'd personally do the party on the weekend closest to the bday, assuming it didn't fall on Xmas.

MIL said they always had Chuck e Cheese to to themselves. I know for a fact that she would just buy him Christmas gifts and pick one for his birthday. I think she still does it. I always came up with his birthday gift first then shopped for Christmas. That way his birthday wasn't a second thought. Sounds like you have a good plan.
DD's birthday is Christmas eve- we are doing her party on the 11th.
our friends are thrilled, because they know they can come eat dinner at our house and take a break from xmas shopping.
Good for you! I plan on having a blow our every day for DD's birthday- I made it crystal clear that my friends and family have to suck it up and deal a holiday birthday, because for the past 5 years I have had to go to all their crappy parties. Sorry, my friends have NO CLUE how to have a a proper party! I come from a long line of over the top party planners, I can't help it! HAHA!
Oh and my LO was due on Thanksgiving. She decided to be late.
There were 3 babies born all the first week of December in my family, so we all tried to work around each other and Christmas....its crazy!! (Side note, we were all due on the 14th)
Stella's bday is the 6th, so I am having her party on the 11th. One of the other babies bday is the 1st, so they are having her party over Thanksgiving weekend while we are all already together. The last momma hasn't decided on her daughters bday party yet (she was born on the 9th).

Well, I have 2 birthdays in December - DD1 on Christmas Day and DD2 on December 3rd. We're not doing a party for DD2 this year (we don't do big parties), but if we were I'd probably opt for the weekend after her birthday. For DD2, we had her first "real" party last year and we pushed it out until mid-January when people weren't as busy.

DD was born over 5 weeks over and I feel so sad she has a christmas birthday when we purposely planned to have early feb baby. So we will always celebrate her birthday (party wise) on her due date. That way she isn't always competing with Christmas for her special day, and her friends will able to actually attend her birthday parties. I figure if we start celebrating it this way now she will like it later.
DS's bday is the 18th but I think we are going to have his par-tay on the 11th just to give ppl a break b4 Christmas.
