Secretly 2 months pregnant?

I just got back from dinner with some friends who are saying that they think I'm further along than 5 weeks. I posted earlier about how big I've been feeling, and honestly, my middle has been thickening for more than just these past few weeks. I just figured it was something random. I did get my period in August, on the 21st as usual, and I can't recall anything spectacular about it. It might have been a little shorter. Not certain. But anyway, my belly is huge! I'm just wondering if it's possible that I got pregnant in August, and somehow didn't know?

Re: Secretly 2 months pregnant?

  • If you didn't get your period of course you could have been pregnant in August.

ETA: Just realized you said you DID get your period. Sorry.  Was it normal? Or was it very light? You could have just been spotting and could have been pregnant.  Although my belly is quite large due to bloating right now, so that's all it could be too.

Yup, you are probably bloated. I've looked very pregnant since week 6. It's the fun bloat :)

  • Thanks, guys! Ahh, the things you learn that they never tell you. This is crazy though! It is a little depressing when people tell you you look more pregnant than you are. It's like just saying I'm a fatty!

I guess I need to just relax and enjoy the ride. Now that I have my maternity jeans, it's at least a bit more comfortable of a ride :)

  • Its possible. But of course, I had major bloat at 5 weeks then it abated around 7 and now I'm working on building a real bump (i.e. I can't suck it in too much and it is getting firmer)

  • That's funny 'cause I had my LMP on the 21st of August and I've been feeling the same way!  Very bloated.  I pretty much can't button some of my shorts already.

I go in for my first prenatal appointment this week so we'll see what the doctor say's.

  • Wow, Happy Bride, we are exactly on the same track!!! Let me know what the doc says. I'm moving this week to another state, so I'm waiting until I get down there to make my first appointment with the midwife.

  • My bloat that started in week 5 just seemed to subside this weekend...

I get that too. Then I kindly say, "Yup, I've gained one pound."

It's totally true and it's shuts them up. And that's how I know it's total bloat! LOL

  • That's why I'm freaking out. My jeans don't fit anymore unless I wear the Bella band with them.

  • Have you been taking your prenatal vitamins?  Are they making you constipated?  Sorry for the personal question but in the beginning I had a lot of bloat and was seriously constipated for a couple of weeks.  I had to change vitamins.

I wasn't in maternity pants but I needed the bella band with a couple of work pants and my "fat girl" jeans fit better than ever.  Once I got rid of some of the constipation and started to enjoy some evening walks, my bloat diminished some.

I think I am actually smaller now than I was in my 6th week or about the same.  And I've had no m/s so I didn't really lose any weight or anything.  Try walking and drink more water.  It may get better.

  • I started to bloat around 5 weeks and looked more pregnant than I was - but it went away last week and now I look pretty much like I did before I got pregnant. My belly is starting to get pretty hard, but I don't really have a true bump yet.

I can still fit in my normal clothes - the jeans are sometimes a bit tight, depending on bloat, but I haven't needed maternity clothes yet.

Just relax - as long as you're eating healthy and exercising as normal, your body is going to do what it's going to do. Bloating and constipation will make your belly look bigger at times (before it's an actual baby bump), that's normal and will come and go a bit before the actual bump comes along in the second tri.

And congrats! Wishing you a happy and healthy pregnancy!

  • It could have been implantation bleeding instead of your period. I thought i had my period in May but the dr said chances are it was implantation bleeding since I got pregnant on May 1st.
