Are you "put together" every day?

It's weird, and maybe it's because I'm single, I don't know, but lately I have found myself putting a lot more effort into how I look when I leave the house. Gone are the days of sweats, a pony tail and no make up and now lately I always seem to feel the need to kind of pull myself together. Even if it's just jeans and a t shirt on the weekend, I try to make sure that I at least fix my hair and put on some makeup before I leave the house. I find that I feel better about myself when I do this for whatever reason. I always wondered why I saw these Mom's at the kids weekend sporting events always so put together, it seemed like so much effort for me, but now I am *that* Mom LOL

So, curious, are you always "put together" when you leave the house?

  • I always fix my hair and put on some makeup, even if it is just mascera.  I just don't feel good until I shower and get ready in the morning.  Now, most weekends, if I don't leave the house, I am usually wearing yoga pants and a t-shirt, but very rarely do I leave the house with those clothes on.

  • I generally try to be pretty put together looking, in that I'll never leave the house with messy hair and rarely in sweats or yoga pants.  But, I rarely bother with make up except for work, and even then it's just eyeshadow and eye liner.

  • Yes, I always shower, and put on makeup and rarely ever go out in sweats.

  • Yes, always! Hair & make-up done, well-dressed every day.  It makes me feel good about myself. I do not own any sweats.  Just because I have 4 kids doesn't mean I have to look frumpy, lol!

  • I dont wear makeup but my hair is 99% of the time is fixed up.  I'm jeans kinda girl but depending on my mood its either a nice shirt or sweater or just an ordinary t-shirt.  I always wear sneakers because I wear inserts because my feet are messed up...they hurt constantly.

  • Yes. I am a makeup every day person. I go to the gym every morning but still make sure I have nice looking gym clothes and wear mascara. Then after I get home I shower, dry/straighten my hair, light make up, and dress - usually skirts or nice jeans and a non tshirt top.

  • I am easing out of my 'getting through each day' look and starting to look more like myself lately.  I've even had a few compliments this month.

But, I admit, I sometimes still head out looking like somebody's mom.

  • I go to the gym every week day but don't try to glamorize myself before I sweat like a pig...lol.

I come home and take a shower everyday but don't always have the time or energy to blow dry and straighten my hair. I try to make it look neat and sometimes put makeup on but I don't wear it all the time.

I'm usually in jeans and a tank top (layered over another tank) but it's really hot out right now :)

  • Yes, always.  I used to not wear makeup on the weekends and just wear a ballcap and jeans and a t-shirt.  However, DH knows everyone.  We can't go anywhere without DH running into someone he knows.  It was embarassing to me, being so sloppy looking, so I started wearing makeup and doing my hair on the weekends.

  • Hell no. I go through phases when I am, but they're typically short-lived.

Things have been pretty insane here lately, though. I'm hoping to get things back under control soon, and perhaps then I can give a different answer.

  • I try to be.

I actually purchased new clothes for this time post-partum - they're all yoga pants, workout type shirts/tanks/jackets, but I feel better in that they're matching/look put together vs. a t-shirt/yoga pants since not much else is really comfortable on a c/s incision.  I wear makeup every day, but my hair varies in style because I only wash it 2-3x per week.  Ponytails do end up happening.  :)

  • I'm bad.  I usually head out in jeans/khakis/etc, but I rarely wear makeup - just mascara. My hair is always pulled back into a loose, looped ponytail.  I really need to cut it off so I HAVE to do it.  It's long, and unless I'm going out with DH or for GNO, it takes way too long to dry/straighten/curl the ends under.

The longer i take to get ready, the longer the kids have to kill themselves or each other.

  • No.  I feel a lot better about myself when I am put together, but I'm in survival mode right now.  DS (7 months) has very narrow windows when he's awake, fed and happy, and he rarely sleeps on the go, so when we get a chance, it's much more important to me to get out of the house and do something rather than make everyone wait for me to get ready.
  • I don't feel human without having real clothes and my face on. My mom was that way, so I guess I learned it from her. I agree that I feel better about myself when I am dressed.

Also, from the hormones that I am on, my face has exploded. I need some major cover up to hide the pimples.

  • I wear nice outfits, mostly casual skirts and dresses.  I do my hair every day but lately I have been going through a series skin treatments.  In between treatments I have to use really thick balm on my face so I haven't been wearing any makeup other than mascara and lip stain.  I have weekly treatments for the next 6 weeks so it will be a while before I wear full make-up again.

  • I wouldn't say I'm "put together" but I don't go out in lounging/workout type clothes. My hairstyle requires little maintenance and I don't wear make-up.

  • Definately, NOT.  I really want to be but have a hard time convincing myself that it isn't a waste of time to put on makeup and get dressed up to go to the store or to run errands.  I know I need to change that mindset but just haven't yet.  You would think, I would be put together since my mom and sisters cannot step out of the house without makeup and nice clothes.  My mom always asks what happened to me, I'm asking myself that question more and more lately?
  • Yes, every morning I shower, do my hair and makeup. I get dressed everyday too, in jeans. I do that everyday, even if we're not leaving the house! I just feel better about myself when I do and I want my girls to see that I take care of myself.
  • I'm a WOHM, and I can say that some workdays I don't even look that put together - lol!

Every day, I shower and do something with my hair, but I wear no make-up. On weekends at home I will have showered/done hair, but I will probably be in yoga pants and a t-shirt. If going to run errands, I will put on jeans and a presentable t-shirt, but not much more effort than that.

I am jealous of those women who look so put together all the time and make it look like there was no effort to get there.

  • Yes, I am. It makes me feel better about myself, and I like knowing that I can still look good, even while chasing around after 2 little ones. I wear a cute jog suit around the house if I'm basically staying home for the day, or if it's a rainy day and I have to just run to get A from school. But otherwise, yes, I throw on some skinny jeans, a cute top, put some makeup on and do my hair. I actually like being *that* mom, who looks good after having 2 kids!

  • Always, have to have a shower in the morning to wake me up. Makeup & hair done everyday.  Even on the weekends when we stay home...never know who is going to be knocking on the door.
    image
  • Yes. I wear makeup everyday, even it it's just powder-to-foundation, blush and mascara.

I was at Chic fil A last week, and every one of the moms there was makeup, hair, and outfit done. I told my DH that it was hot mom day at Chic fil A, lol. It's been awhile since I've seen that many random moms (not a play group) looking good in one place. Via hot mamas. : )

  • No, it's not really a priority to me most of the time. If I'm going out socially sure, I'll fix myself up. But if I just have to take a break from yardwork to run and pick ds up from school? Nope. I also generally do absolutely nothing to myself and just wear yoga pants to work but in my line of work that's preferable to nice clothes: I need something that I am comfortable moving in, can run after someone if needed, and isn't going to be ruined by someone else's feces or vomit!

Today I showered but did nothing but brush my teeth and let my hair air dry. I'm wearing old jeans and a t-shirt, but I've been doing yardwork and cleaning out the garage all day.  When I needed to run to the hardware store down the road for some screws and a latch for the gate I went as-is. When I have to go get ds from school in an hour I'll go as-is. (I'm only inside on the computer right now because I got HOT and had to come inside to cool down for a minute, lol.)

  • I have just recently gotten back into the getting myself together phase. Now that my kids are a little older I feel like I have more time and am not worried about always have spit up or whatever end up on my clothes.  I feel better when I look nice.  My DH could care less what I'm wearing - be it sweats and no make-up or my nicer clothes with make-up but since it makes me feel better about me, he is all for it!  I work from home 2x a week and used to never do make-up on those days but lately I have been and it does work wonders for my self confidence and since I do see so many other parents at drop off and pick-ups, I like making a nice impression.

So, curious, are you always "put together" when you leave the house?

Every weekday, I am up before the kids.  I shower, dry my hair, dress and put on makeup before they get up.  If I don't do it before they're up, I would not be able to get a shower.  It seems like a lot, but I've been doing it since Logan was about 10 mths old.  I don't leave the house in sweats or without makeup.  I am not high-maintenance at all, I just have to be dressed!

  • I'm never put together. It is something I want to work on though.

I think that if I cut my hair I'll be forced to do something with it other than pinning it up in a knot. That'll be a good start for me!

    .
  • I usually am, although there are definitely days this summer where I just whipped my hair into a ponytail and threw on a bathing suit and headed to the pool!  But 9 times out of 10, I shower, do makeup, and blowdry my hair.  I see a lot of people when I'm out and about usually, and it's not unusual to have a friend call and want to meet up last minute, so I always feel better about myself if I'm clean and looking decent.

  • It depends what I have to do that day. If I'm going to the gym or doing housework I don't put on makeup and I shower that evening. If I am out running errands or have a meeting at school I look nice with makeup and a cute outfit.

  • Before I cut my hair, there were lots of days where it was just thrown in a pony tail. Now, I can't do that and HAVE to blow dry it to make it look okay. But, I don't always have makeup on.

  • I wouldn't say put together, but I make some effort. I'm usually in jeans and a cute top, with some makeup and my hair up. I don't go anywhere without makeup, but I don't wear it at home when I'm not planning on going out.

  • Yes, usually.  However, if I run to the store early in the a.m. after dropping MS off at school, I'm usually in workout clothes, no makeup and sometimes a hat.  When I'm a hot mess I almost ALWAYS run into someone I know.

If it's a low key day and I know we won't be going anywhere I usually skip makeup and real clothes.

  • Yes, and as you know, you and I are in the same boat as single mommies.  I feel the need to always at least look decent when I leave the house.  In some ways I like it because I always feel confident.  In other ways it's somewhat tiresome.

I feel like I put pressure on myself to be more fashionable too.  Which is expensive and I can't really afford it on my budget.

  • If I ever do go out in public without making an effort, I regret it. I run into someone I didn't want to see or end up feeling really self-conscious. The days we stay home the whole day, I don't even get dressedEmbarrassed I stay in my pj's the whole day. A day or two of that usually makes me feel funky enough that I actually want to make an effort. I really like putting on make-up. I like having cute hair and wearing flattering clothes. Its part of what makes being a female fun! I don't really understand people who don't enjoy those kinds of female rituals. I don't think you need to go all-out any time you step out your door, but at least slap some lipgloss on and have a flattering hairstyle.

  • I work full time so I get up and put on a suit or slacks/nice top, heels, jewelry and makeup every single working morning. So on the weekends...I pretty much veg out at the house in sweats and no makeup. I have no fear in running to the grocery store or somewhere like walmart like that either. I would never go to a social event or sporting event without being put together, but I have no problem running errands on a weekend looking like a hot mess.

  • Always freshly showered ( I like to shower 2-3x/day!) but rarely ever put together on the weekends.
  • Yes, generally, though I'm in one of my "slack off" phases. Usually, I have my hair fixed, decent clothes, and powder/bronzer or blush/mascara/lipgloss, at the very least. I feel better when I put at least a small amount of effort into myself.
