Do you know if it has infant padding? I see there are 2 pieces of velcro inside the seat. We were given it from a trusted family friend but they used it with their 2 year old.
Are you talking about the velcro sort up on the sides of the seat (arm rest-ish area)? Because if so, that's to hold the straps back when you are putting the child in the seat.
Ours did not come with an insert, but Britax sells separate foam inserts that go below the cover to position smaller babies correctly.

we have the marathon ("original") purchased last year.
The velcro on the sides goes with the strap to hold it while the kiddo is getting in the seat. No padding comes with it extra.
