Re: ??? Weekly Check-in ???

  • (1) What week are you in/how old is your LO? 10.5 months

    (2) Any new milestones or news in the last week to share?  Let's see - he can cross his fingers, and he does it all the time now, so cute!  Babbling more sounds and combinations.  He can roll his tongue, and he tries to stand from time to time on his own - like he'll pull himself up to standing, and then let go and see if he can do it on his own.  He really doesn't like to hear "no" LOL  He's definitely cutting 2 new teeth on the bottom.

ETA: one more tooth on the bottom started poking through today!  MH found blood on his shirt and thought the baby hurt himself again, but it was just a tooth!

    (3) Next appointment date?   12 month well visit -  they said he can get the flu shot then as well.  Then again, I think I may want him to get it next month so he doesn't have so many shots at once.

    (4) What's been your greatest BR challenge this past week? teething mostly

    (5) What's the funniest piece of advice/warning that someone's given you?  (true or not!)  hm, can't think of anything funny

    (6) Mamas:  What are your LOs favorite toys/activities...by age?  (...since many of us feel at a loss as to what to do or play with babies)  we read books and I would play on his playmat with him - like I would get under there and play with the toys while he would look at them.  Then as he rolled, I would put toys different places for him to look and roll to.  We ended up playing (still do) with a lot of his toys, and he likes watching that - like with those stackable rings, we would play ring toss from a few feet away.  We juggle stuff or show him pictures of himself on the computer - he loves that.  And holding him near a mirror and say "baby close" and move away and say "baby faaaar" lol  my kid is so vain he just loves to look at himself!  Peekaboo is a hit - since about 5 months maybe?  I also spin the rings like a top and he watches them and then goes after them.

Also, he has really loved his Oball since he could grab it.  He still plays with it and rolls it and chases it more than any other ball.

    (7) Mamas:  What do you use as a diaper bag? What are your likes/dislikes about the bag you use? Do you think you'll need a different bag once you have two kids?  I had a Carter's one that someone gave me at a shower, and I used that for awhile.  I like the Similac one I got at the hospital, but it was too small to fit everything for an outing more than a few hours.  I ended up buying this Skip Hop bag b/c I like that you can clip it over the stroller.  This has more pockets than my other one, but not too many.

  • (1) What week are you in/how old is your LO? One month old today! Wow!(2) How are you feeling? Any new milestones or news in the last week to share? Doing well. We went to visit my parents for 5 nights and J was a great little traveler and transitioned to their place really well.  I just wish he would sleep longer than 1 - 1.5 hours at night time :)  He's still super mellow and a great baby but I'll have to be patient on the night time sleeping.  He's a great sleeper during the day still and a lot more active too.  (3) Next appointment date?  Any big ultrasounds/other exciting stuff coming up? Today for his one month check-up, I go back next week for my 6 week PP check-up.(4) What's been your greatest BR challenge this past week? Nothing that I can think of besides lack of sleep? It isn't a big deal though as I know what I signed up for... I think the time when I most want to sleep is about 6am when he's awake and wanting to hang out :)(5) What's the funniest piece of advice/warning that someone's given you?  (true or not!) Oh gosh, I'll have to think about that one... good Q, I'm looking forward to others responses.

  • (1) What week are you in/how old is your LO? Kailani is 20 weeks (almost 5 mos)

    (2) How are you feeling? Any new milestones or news in the last week to share? She?s giggling more. She?ll hold onto the bars of her activity mat while sitting as she can?t sit by herself yet. She had her first veggies, peas and loved them?she likes it much better then the rice cereal now. She?s been able to roll from her back to stomach since she was 2.5 months but just started to roll from stomach to back. She?s not much of a coo?er only when her hands are in her mouth. She loves lap standing and has started to lap jump.

    (3) Next appointment date?  6 mos check up the day before Thanksgiving.

    (4) What's been your greatest BR challenge this past week? Kailani?s a really good baby at this point (the first 10 weeks were really hard until I got to know her cues)?so far so good. For the past two weeks she has been sleeping from 8 pm ? 5 or 6 am which is AWESOME!!! I?ve become used to it and afraid it will end.

    (5) What's the funniest piece of advice/warning that someone's given you?  Hmmm can?t think of any funny advice.

    (6) Mamas:  What are your LOs favorite toys/activities...by age?  Kailani loves loves loves her activity mat and loves her Very Hungry Caterpillar pop-up book.  She hasn't really taken to Sophie yet. Oh and her lovie...its like a small piece of blanket/stuffed animal combo.

    (7) Mamas:  What do you use as a diaper bag? What are your likes/dislikes about the bag you use? Do you think you'll need a different bag once you have two kids? I have two diaper bags?one is like a book bag that I love when shopping because it can hang on the stroller bar handles and I can put the shopping bags under the stroller. It?s also great when I don?t have a stroller and she?s in the ergo. I like that it came with a changing pad and had a ton of compartments for bottles and diapers. The other bag is your traditional diaper bag which is good but big and bulky. TWO KIDS???

  • (1) What week are you in/how old is your LO? 36w2d
    (2) How are you feeling? Any new milestones or news in the last week to share? Feeling good except for the pulled muscle (see below). LO probably changed positions because I can walk easily again. I am hoping she's not in a transverse position though! I've been off work for a week and getting tons of things done. I think by the end of the week, I should have knocked off stuff in my to do list and will be ready for LO :). I've started packing my hospital bag and DH has too. He's even bringing his cooler filled with snacks! lol.
    (3) Next appointment date?  Any big ultrasounds/other exciting stuff coming up? On Thursday for my 36 wk appointment and my 1st internal exam. I see the doc weekly now.
    (4) What's been your greatest BR challenge this past week? I pulled a muscle eft side....my from sneezing! How funny is that! lol. Doc said I just have to let the muscle heal by itself. For now, it's hard for me to bend on my left side :-(.
    (5) What's the funniest piece of advice/warning that someone's given you?  (true or not!)
    (6) Mamas:  What are your LOs favorite toys/activities...by age?  (...since many of us feel at a loss as to what to do or play with babies) (7) Mamas:  What do you use as a diaper bag? What are your likes/dislikes about the bag you use? Do you think you'll need a different bag once you have two kids?I have a couple of diaper bags and a diaper clutch. I have yet to use them so I do not know if I like them or now.

  • (1) What week are you in/how old is your LO? 5 months and 1 week!
    (2) How are you feeling? Any new milestones or news in the last week to share? TIRED. To the point where typing this is actually difficult. Tongue Tied
    (3) Next appointment date?  Any big ultrasounds/other exciting stuff coming up? Umm...nothing, actually! I should make the appointment for their 6 month checkup.
    (4) What's been your greatest BR challenge this past week? The wakefulness they (especially Will) have been having at night. I think I've slept less in this past week than I did when they were newborns. For real.
    (5) What's the funniest piece of advice/warning that someone's given you?  (true or not!) This probably isn't really funny, but I laughed when I read it. A friend loaned me a baby sleep training book that had a chapter specifically for multiples. One of the things the author  (who, I should add, does NOT have twins) said is if one newborn baby is sleeping and the other wants to feed, you shouldn't wake the sleeping baby in an effort to keep them on the same schedule, because that's "not fair" to the sleeping baby. Ummm - no. You want to know what's not fair to the baby? Having a mother who is on the verge of a psychotic breakdown because she's literally had no sleep in 4 days because her 3-week-old kids are on different sleep/eat schedules. It's just one of those things that makes me roll my eyes - when a well-intentioned but TOTALLY clueless parent tries to give advice about what to do with multiples. Don't get me wrong, I appreciate a lot of the advice I get, but some things just do.not.work.
    (6) Mamas:  What are your LOs favorite toys/activities...by age?  (...since many of us feel at a loss as to what to do or play with babies) Starting at about 6 weeks (I think?) they looooved their activity mat. Once they got a bit older - 3.5 months? - they've become all about the books. We read 4 (sometimes more) per day and they just adore them - especially Dash, who will take a book over a toy any day. They're also really into musical toys right now.
    (7) Mamas:  What do you use as a diaper bag? What are your likes/dislikes about the bag you use? Do you think you'll need a different bag once you have two kids? Yup, I use the Skip Hop Studio and LOVE it. It doesn't have that "diaper bag" look - it looks more like an oversized purse (I got the platinum dots pattern and looooove it). But it has all the benefits of a diaper bag - lots of great storage, waterproof lining, a good change mat, etc. It also has really nice straps to hang from your shoulders and good clip hooks to put it on the stroller handles. Dislikes...hmm. I can't really think of any, actually! I guess it might be nice if the bottle holders were insulated, but that's not a big deal to me since my kids will take room-temp bottles.
For anyone thinking of upgrading to a "two kid" diaper bag, I do have one bit of advice: look up the actual dimensions of the bag. I nearly bought the Skip Hop Duo Double, which is specifically marketed as a twin/multiple child bag. And frankly, it's pretty ugly, so I wasn't thrilled with the prospect. Then one day I actually looked at the bag dimensions and I realized it was only 1" taller and 1" wider than a lot of other large diaper bags (including the Studio). For only 1", I'm going with a good looking bag - plus the one I got was $30 cheaper! Anyway, all of this is to say -  just check to make sure you're actually getting a bigger bag. Smile
  • (1) What week are you in/how old is your LO? 2 months and 1 week
    (2) How are you feeling? Any new milestones or news in the last week to share? Today....worn out.  Henry didn't nap for more than 20 minutes at a times today.  He was ridiculously fussy.Milestones......he had his first shots, and survived (so did I!)  And he rolled from tummy to back three times while at the doctor!!!! Of course, haven't been able to get him to do it again..... (3) Next appointment date?  Any big ultrasounds/other exciting stuff coming up? We go to the hospital on Thursday to get an ultrasound of his hips.  His pedi doesn't suspect anything's wrong, it's just standard procedure for the kind of breech he was.
    (4) What's been your greatest BR challenge this past week? Standard evening fussiness.  Although, today, it was like evening all. day. long.
    (5) What's the funniest piece of advice/warning that someone's given you?  (true or not!) Not funny, I guess, but ironic.  When you struggle with your milk supply, all anyone tells you is to make sure you eat plenty and get lots of rest.  Ummmmm.......WHEN?????  He was feeding every 45-60 minutes, and screaming in between that!  I know that eating and rest helps your supply, but it's both ironic and frustrating when those things are not compatible with the baby's needs.
    (6) Mamas:  What are your LOs favorite toys/activities...by age?  (...since many of us feel at a loss as to what to do or play with babies) He isn't really interested in toys yet, but he'll play on the activity mat (mostly just looking) for up to 20 minutes, and will also let me shower when he sits in his bouncer in the bathroom for maybe 15 minutes.  Other than that, we sing the songs from his Kindermusik class a lot, and I make up songs a lot, too, which seem to please him.
    (7) Mamas:  What do you use as a diaper bag? What are your likes/dislikes about the bag you use? Do you think you'll need a different bag once you have two kids? I have a Storksak messenger bag.  I love that it has insulated zippered pouches on both sides for bottles, and I love that it has lots of compartments.  I also love the messenger bag style, I like slinging it over my shoulder across my chest, and it also hangs really well from the stroller.  I don't love how narrow it is...I sometimes feel like I can't fit anything in the main section when the compartments are all full.  I would definitely need a different bag for two kids.  I did once upon a time look at the SkipHop one with the dots that you have, Lisa.  I might get one at some point.

Ha! Funny you should mention this because I nearly wrote the same thing. When you struggle with your milk supply, you're pretty much always nursing or pumping. Exhaustion was actually one of the reasons I gave up nursing, because it was a horrible cycle: tired --> low milk supply --> nursing/pumping constantly --> can't get rest so even more tired --> etc.

I really do recommend that bag - I'm SO happy with it! I did a lot of research before I bought a diaper bag, and that was one that was constantly recommended by twin moms or parents with more than one child. There are others too, but a lot of them were just too pricey for me to consider (I couldn't bring myself to spend $300 on a diaper bag, even if I was going to carry it a lot - then again, I don't buy expensive purses, either).

  • (1) What week are you in/how old is your LO?

    she's about 10.5 months

    (2) How are you feeling? Any new milestones or news in the last week to share?

hmmm... nothing big that i can think of right now.  she is working really hard to stand on her own though. you can see her legs wavering back and forth as she tries to get her balance, it's funny/cute. she will consistently stand for 10-15 seconds before toppling now. she's also good at standing up on her own now (w/o pulling up on anything)... she wants to walk so bad but needs to master standing first LOL she will be in the middle of crawling, stop, stand up and then topple over before she has a chance to even take one step :)

    (3) Next appointment date?  Any big ultrasounds/other exciting stuff coming up?

in a few weeks for her flu shot booster (we wanted her to have the 1st one far enough in advance to develop some immunity before our next flight on Oct 16)

    (4) What's been your greatest BR challenge this past week?

    nothing i can think of

    (5) What's the funniest piece of advice/warning that someone's given you?  (true or not!)

trim her eyelashes while she's sleeping and they'll grow longer! (not like she needs it, her lashes are longer than mine already LOL)

    (6) Mamas:  What are your LOs favorite toys/activities...by age?  (...since many of us feel at a loss as to what to do or play with babies)

ok, so this is going to be long but i hope this helps someone...

as  a newborn she loved to lay on her activity mat and stare up at the toys; i would constantly bat at them so she could see them moving....and when she figured out how to bat at them, it was her favorite thing to do :) i would hit them and make them move and she'd watch them swing back and forth and then try to grab them herself. we didn't do much else when she was that little except for a few minutes of tummy time each day

once she was rolling tummy time was easier...she hated being on her tummy until after she knew how to roll onto it...after that she loved being on her tummy and would put herself there ALL.THE.TIME :) she would still play on her activity mat mostly. i would spend a little time each day propping her up into the sitting position and then holding my hands behind her (to catch her) to try to get her to use those back muscles to strengthen them to sit...

when she was sitting unassisted i would plop her on the activity mat and she would sit there and play w/the toys :) i would also prop her up in the boppy and hand her toys (the ones hanging from the mat, we don't have a lot of toys) for her to play with.  i think it was around this time that i bought an oball - she loved it at first (before she became so mobile) b/c it was easy to hold/play with and would rattle.  now i have it attached to her exersaucer (via a toysitter) and she will sometimes play w/it on there but it isn't her favorite anymore.  at this stage i'd also put her on her tummy and constantly put things in front of her to encourage her to crawl. then when she started crawling i would often put toys just out of her reach to encourage her to crawl more and practice. i have found that sometimes the best "toys" are not toys at all... she is fascinated with plastic water bottles and will play with one for a long time before getting bored...she loves boxes...anything with a tag on it...while i made most of her baby food we did get a few jars for convenience and i have kept one and rinsed it out and she loves to play w/the empty jar... she loves to see pictures of herself on the computer and while we don't let her watch tv, sometimes i will let her watch videos of herself as i am sorting through them for upload to youtube for the grandparents and she giggles and talks to herself when she watches the videos :)

when she started crawling was about when my friend gave us her used exersaucer.  (to give me a break from chasing her everything and trying to keep her out of things she shouldn't be getting into). she LOVES everything that is on that and can sit in that thing and play forever. she used to just stand in it and play but ever since we put her in the Jump 'n Go bouncy thing, she now also bounces up and down in the exersaucer even though it's not made for bouncing LOL

she got sophie when she was about 7 months old - she loved to play w/her and gnaw on her at first but these days she is not so interested in her anymore, even though she is still teething.

about a month ago i got a few more toys for her... i got the melissa & doug sorting cube for her...she LOVES to play with those blocks. of course she is too young to put them into the corresponding holes but she knows how to open the lid and pull the blocks out and will just hold the blocks and bang them together. i will pick up the blocks and go through colors and shapes w/her. i also got her the M&D stacking/nesting cubes and she likes those too. i like that they are good for teaching...there are letters that i go through with her and different pictures on each block for each letter...for instance, there is a Yak wearing a Yellow tie, getting an Xray done on the XYZ cube

now that she is standing she will even hold onto the arches on the activity mat and stand there and play w/the toys on it!! she does not play w/the toys on it as much as she used to now but she definitely pulls herself up on that thing a lot - we have gotten so much good use out of that thing! (and for only $20 on CL!)

and of course we have lots and lots of books!! i've been reading to her since she started staying up long enough to be read too.  she loves to look at the pictures and turn the pages. she esp loves the touch/feel books.  she will usually go for the books over any of her toys when they are all laying out

as far as non-toy activities, she did not like peekaboo until she was about 9 months old but now she loves it.  she also like to make phhhhhhhhhhhht sounds with her lips (kind of like farting noises).  she loves getting zerberts (we've been doing that w/her on the changing table since she was about a month old) but doesn't know how to do it herself yet.

you really don't need a lot to keep a baby entertained. this is pretty much all she has.... and she is totally entertained!

    • tiny love gymini activity mat
    • exersaucer
    • evenflo jump n go
    • swing (we don't even use it that much)
    • sophie the giraffe
    • oball
    • melissa & doug sorting cube
    • melissa & doug stacking/nesting cubes
    • bright starts soft blocks
    • fisher price soothe & glow seahorse (for the crib)
    • lots of books!

    (7) Mamas:  What do you use as a diaper bag? What are your likes/dislikes about the bag you use? Do you think you'll need a different bag once you have two kids?

i used to have a small diaper bag for day trips but then i got tired of carrying both a diaper bag AND a purse...so when i saw the skip hop studio diaper tote on sale at amazon for $39 (retail $89) , i snatched it up :) i've only had it about a week now but i love it! it has plenty of pockets, straps that stay on your shoulder, and i esp like that it does not look like a diaper bag and i can use it after she is out of diapers as just a purse. it's the same one Lisa in Oz has and i can definitely see if being large enough for 2.

  • imagelelekay:
    (2) How are you feeling? Any new milestones or news in the last week to share? Today....worn out.  Henry didn't nap for more than 20 minutes at a times today.  He was ridiculously fussy.

sorry to hear he was so fussy :(

20 min naps are tough...but just fyi it's totally normal for younger babies to only nap for 30 min at a time, that's how miss A was.  yes there are babies that take longer naps at that age, but i used to wonder what i was doing wrong or if it was b/c i wasn't swaddling her for naps that was causing her to take only short naps like that...but then i read that it's pretty normal.  so hang in there! i feel like the beginning is a constant struggle with trying to be a good mom while you're tired all the time!

Wow, GREAT price! I was happy to find it for $69 (and my stepmom ended up buying it as a gift for me) - $50 off is a STEAL! Yes

  • (1) What week are you in/how old is your LO?  Bella is 14 months. I'm 15 1/2 weeks pregnant.
    (2) How are you feeling? Any new milestones or news in the last week to share? I just wrote a GIANT blog about Bella's 14 month update :) You can check it out if you're interested. The complete exhaustion is slowly fading (Thank GOD!) and now I'm only a little more than normal tired.  I'm already nesting too! It seems weird, I wasn't like this with her at all. I didn't start nesting until closer to 25-30 weeks.
    (3) Next appointment date?  Any big ultrasounds/other exciting stuff coming up? Her's is Oct 27th for her Flu shot, MMR and Hep A shot. We're skipping the MMR and we'll get it later. I am doing my own modified version of the vaccine schedule. I want her to get them all but not at the schedule they suggest. My appt is 2 weeks from Friday. We'll be talking about whether or not I need to do progesterone injections or not and what they'll be doing to try to prevent my water from breaking prematurely...
    (4) What's been your greatest BR challenge this past week? Well we've had off and on issues with our pedi (I *think* most of you know about some of them) and we've decided that we need to find a new pedi before the next baby. It's not that I want to change practices, I'd like to just changes drs within the practice but they won't let you, so we've opted to change. Everything adds up over time and I just don't think I can deal with it for the next 18 yrs for multiple kids!
    (5) What's the funniest piece of advice/warning that someone's given you?  (true or not!) Last time when I was having major problems getting Bella to sleep people would give me all sorts of advice, the biggest one "try harder" or "maybe you just aren't trying hard enough"... Um really? I'm not trying, you think I want this kid NOT to sleep?! I'm not sure if it's advice or not but since we've announced our pregnancy this time, people have said some really ridiculous things such as OMG it's going to be SOOO hard with them so close together. I reply oh well it was planned and we're thrilled that they'll be close together in age. Or wow, that was close... ah yeah thanks I got that, remember I'm the one that's KU! Some people should just think before things come out of their mouths!(6) Mamas:  What are your LOs favorite toys/activities...by age?  (...since many of us feel at a loss as to what to do or play with babies) Bella loves hard paged books so she can turn the pages and touch and feel books. She knows EXACTLY where the feel parts are in each of her touch and feel books. She's also loving putting things inside of something and stacking things.
    (7) Mamas:  What do you use as a diaper bag? What are your likes/dislikes about the bag you use? Do you think you'll need a different bag once you have two kids? I hate our current diaper bag, it was given to me by a friend and while really cute and looking more like a giant purse, it's not really that functional. It has magnets to keep the outer pockets together which they always collapse down. I've been in the market for awhile but can't find anything I love.
As for two kids, we'll for sure need a bigger one! I'm thinking of getting a backpack style one. Then I can put the baby in the ergo (or Bella) and have the diaper bag on my back and have both hands free for the kids. I feel like always carrying it over my shoulder wouldn't be the easiest thing. I know some diaper bags have the option (my mind is blanking on the brand now) to do the shoulder or to do the backpack with the same bag, which would be great. However if I remember correctly these bags are $$$... I'm not sure how much I'm willing to spend.
  • (1) What week are you in/how old is your LO?  13w2d

    (2) How are you feeling? Any new milestones or news in the last week to share?  Still very tired, but pretty normal.  I get those weird twinges in my stomach from time to time, but I'm assuming it's just from my ute trying to grow.  I'm not too concerned about it.

    (3) Next appointment date?  Any big ultrasounds/other exciting stuff coming up?  I go on October 5th for my next visit.  I'm assuming my quad screen bloodwork?  Not really sure.

    (4) What's been your greatest BR challenge this past week?  I'm not sleeping through the night at all which sucks because I know it will only get worse as I progress.  I will sleep hard until about 1am then toss and turn every hour until I get up at 6:30am.  It's very annoying and I don't know why this this happening.

    (5) What's the funniest piece of advice/warning that someone's given you?  (true or not!)  Nothing yet.  I try not to listen since I'm a nervous nelly about everything - one ear and out the other is my motto these days ;)

trim her eyelashes while she's sleeping and they'll grow longer! (not like she needs it, her lashes are longer than mine already LOL)

That is hysterical!  Do people really trim their eyelashes??

...she got sophie when she was about 7 months old - she loved to play w/her and gnaw on her at first but these days she is not so interested in her anymore, even though she is still teething.

Sophie has a new home - the car/carseat.  I found having separate toys just for the car has a better chance of keeping him occupied longer.

Our activity mat has along been repurposed - he uses it as a "blanket" for peek-a-boo!

    (3) Next appointment date?   2 weeks from yesterday

    (4) What's been your greatest BR challenge this past week? sleep, as usual.  except it's getting worse - now when i wake up to go to the bathroom at night, i have a hard time going back to sleep.  i was up from 3:30-8-something this morning, before i went back to sleep for an hour Stick out tongue  thankfully, my job schedule is flexible, but it's seriously cutting in to how much work i can get done during the day, i'm so tired all the time.

    (5) What's the funniest piece of advice/warning that someone's given you?  (true or not!)  one friend told me that no matter what, my butt will be saggy in maternity jeans, so just accept it - she's right!  they don't stay up - i'm pulling my pants up all the time!  is that normal?  if they were any tighter around the belly, they'd hurt Stick out tongue

    (7) Mamas:  What do you use as a diaper bag? What are your likes/dislikes about the bag you use? Do you think you'll need a different bag once you have two kids?  MH surprised me with a messenger bag-style diaper bag for mother's day this year.  it's cute, except i don't think it's going to work - we'll see.  for example, there are no outer pockets.  not to mention that messenger bags hurt my back.  it was super sweet of him, and i feel so ungrateful for not being more excited about it Stick out tongue  i haven't purchased another bag (yet) - I will use it and try to make it work, but i already have my eye on the skip hop studio or skip hop duo...

We've found the same thing for Bella. Having some toys that are ONLY toys that are kept in the car and the rest of them are split, 75% in the living room in her toy box and 25% in her room in her toy bin in there. Having different toys in different places is key for her!

Our activity mat now occupies Bella when I do laundry since it's downstairs. She climbs under and around it and thinks it's so funny!

Can you exchange it? I would just mention that it hurts your back. Messenger bags also hurt my neck/back. I've had to start getting massage again because carrying Bella and a diaper bag is TOUGH!

Yup, I had the same problem - it didn't matter what jeans I wore, they still fell down! I think the only way I'd have kept them up was with suspenders lol. I had the same problem with maternity yoga pants - I had to keep hiking them up all the time.

  • (1) What week are you in/how old is your LO?

8 months and 5 days old

    (2) How are you feeling? Any new milestones or news in the last week to share?

My accelerated MBA program started on Monday and I was feeling very overwhelmed and anxious.  I decided to drop and not start the program right now.  It's just not good timing with all that I have going on in my life.  Thankfully, my admission to the program will be in good standing for five years...so I can start when it's better timing without having to reapply (which was a PITA)...as long as I complete the program by August 2015. I feel so much better now that I've taken that off my plate right now.  I've waited a long, long time to become a mother and I really want to be present and available to Libby in her babyhood.  I'll have time, later, to devote to studies and strategize a career move.

Libby is a mobile baby now!  She can crawl anywhere and is pulling up on furniture and just wants to stand (so much so that she cries when she can't do it on her own and then we have to hold her up)...in the bathtub, in bed, you name it.  We have to watch her like a hawk because she is so fast and wants to explore every nook and cranny of our home...including the dog beds, under chairs, etc.

    (3) Next appointment date?  Any big ultrasounds/other exciting stuff coming up?

I am getting a flu shot tomorrow and Libby needs a booster flu shot in a couple of weeks.  I decided to get them because I am taking her with me for 10 days to an international convention in Seattle (I'll be working and my mom will stay with her) and last year everyone got the flu, including several with cases of H1N1.

    (4) What's been your greatest BR challenge this past week?

Having a wakeful baby...she's teething (four teeth are trying to bust through on top!) and crawling has made her not want to sleep.  Her naps have been really short and she wants to stay up until midnight!

    (5) What's the funniest piece of advice/warning that someone's given you?  (true or not!)

Funny? Hmmm...um...your boobs will never be the same again.  Nor will your vajayjay! LOL!  Funny warning..."the first time you have an orgasim as a nursing mother you will spray milk every where!"  I heard that more than once and am happy to report that it did not happen.

    (6) Mamas:  What are your LOs favorite toys/activities...by age?  (...since many of us feel at a loss as to what to do or play with babies)

We have read to Libby each day since she was born.  We spend 20-30 minutes a couple of times a day reading various age-appropriate books to her.  She loves to turn the pages and has been doing so (on her board books) since she was 3.5 months old.  We have also sung to her dailey since she was born and now she tries to sing along.  She loves "You are my sunshine." Since she was about 2 weeks old she's had time down on the floor each day...these days it's all she wants to do!

    (7) Mamas:  What do you use as a diaper bag? What are your likes/dislikes about the bag you use? Do you think you'll need a different bag once you have two kids?

I currently use a large purse....it's a Carlisle Tote by Franco Sarto. I toss in a medium Kushies dry bag with a few diapers, wipes, etc. it when we're on the go.  For all day trips/air travel we use a Dad Gear Back Pack.  I'll probably be able to use both once we have two kids...we shall see!

    (8) What questions would you like to see in upcoming check-ins?

TTCers:  Which cycle are you on?  Where in the cycle are you?  What, if anything, are you doing/trying for TTC success?
