I just started back to work last week and have been pumping bottles for my DS I have been making the bottles about 4 oz. but my mom just told me today she thinks that he may need more because he will gobble it down and a little while later seem like he is hungry again. He is 3 months today and a big boy about 15 pounds. Everything I have found says between 3 1/2 to 4 oz. but I just saw on someone elses post that they should be getting 6 oz.
How much are you ladies feeding your little ones? Is it just a trial and error kind of thing? Just test different amonts to see how much makes them happy?
Re: How many ounces?
DD1 born 5/24/10.
Missed M/C at 14 wks Feb 2012.
DD2 born 5/14/13.
Missed M/C at 9 wks July 2015.
DD gets 2.75 - 4 oz bottles at DC. The smallest one is right before she gets picked up by DH as I get home somewhat close after that.
Weight in lbs X 2.5 = What's needed in 24 hours.
Divide by # of feedings to get the ounce per bottle.
So. 15 X 2.5 = 37.5
37.5/8 feedings (just a guess) = 4.69 ounces

As a lot of babies like to suck it's easy to overfeed them from a bottle - DD can comfort nurse at the nipple and not take in very much but that's not possible at the bottle which may cause them to drink more than is needed. Their tummies are still very tiny.
