Once at a company picnic, my boss's wife, while watching her 4 1/2 feet tall, 120lb, out of control 2nd grade son run wild, looked at me and sighed, "You never know what you're gonna get with your kids. You could end up with your husband, crazy uncle, your grandmother..."
I've been thinking about that lately. I know it's not a black and white thing, but what are some good traits from your or your husband's family that you want your child to end up with? What are some bad ones you hope your child doesn't inherit? Can be anything, not necessarily physical.
Re: Traits
I hope this child does NOT inherit either my DH's or my ability to be stubborn. We are both so brutal, I don't think this poor boy has a hope!
I hope our son inherits his fathers ability to fix things - seriously. Anything that isn't working right, my DH can take apart and figure out why and then put it back together to make it work. I also hope our son gets my DHs sense of adventure.
From me, I hope he gets my organization skills.
My family is mostly tall, lean and athletic, and my husband's family is short and some are way overweight. I hope my baby inherits my family's genes in that aspect. However, depression runs deep in my family, although who can say nobody in their family is depressed? I hope my baby gets my creativity and artistic talent, and my husband's sense of humor, patience, and ability to get along with virtually anyone.
