Spoke with my R/N re: spotting & cramping

Hi ladies!
I just got off the phone with my R/N after experiencing some spotting in the middle of the night last night, along with some cramping. The background (TMI sorry): it was brownish/pinkish when I wiped, but otherwise not apparent in my underwear, etc. Spotting this morning has been lighter. Just following this I was feeling some mild cramping, it was not painful just a little uncomfortable, like little spasms. She said both of these things were totally normal and experienced by many women, which I knew from my research online but because there was cramping I was concerned. The spotting can be caused by anything - intercourse, strenuous lifting or exercise, or just things settling in. It is old blood that has already worked itself out whatever the issue was, which is a great sign. Bottom line was, of course there is still a chance things may not be OK, but there is always that chance, and these symptoms aren't a sign that anything is wrong as long as there isn't lots of blood or severe cramping.

I know these are super common symptoms, but I just thought I'd post this to reassure anyone who might experience or be experiencing the same thing. Also, she said it was good I called for reassurance, so don't be afraid to, even if your research tells you it's nothing to be concerned about! She said we'd be checking things out next week at my 6 wk ultrasound (!! :). So, I'm feeling a lot better, especially since my test today the line was DARKER than the control line (previously has been pretty faint). Good luck ladies!

  • Thanks for sharing! you aren't the only one with this experience. It feels great to know others are not alone. H&H 9 months to ya!

  • also some women still spot in the begining around the time that they would normally get their period, which most of us are right around that area right now =0)
  • Yes! She mentioned that too. Basically she allayed almost all of my fears for the time being. I have taken it very easy today just in case though!
