Non-clicky poll: Where is YOUR uterus?

This morning when I was still in bed, laying on my back, I was able to feel the hard ball that is my uterus.  I'll admit, it was pretty cool.  The top of it was about even with my belly button.  I'm only 13w4d, and from everything I've read, the top of my uterus is supposed to be a few inches BELOW my belly button.  So of course, in my head I'm trying to figure out what this means. Am I farther along than I thought?  Am I just carrying high?  Was it the position I was in?  I'm not worried, just more curious than anything.

So, how far along are you, and where is the top of YOUR uterus?

Re: Non-clicky poll: Where is YOUR uterus?

  • At my 14 week check-up my midwife told me that my uterus was already at my belly button...but that is all she said. I didn't think to ask if it was a good or bad thing until I read in one of my books that your uterus isn't normally at your belly button until 20 weeks. However, at my first check-up (10 weeks) my midwife said that my uterus was bigger than most for how far along I was. I have a family history of big babies, so I am just going to attribute the size/location of my uterus to that!

  • I just had my 14 week last friday and she said mine was 2-3 fingers below my belly button. I can kind of feel it if I am laying down flat but not sure if I am feeling the right thing.

  • At my 16 week appointment about a week ago, my OB told me my uterus was right at/ just below my belly button.  At 12 weeks, I could tell that it had moved above my pelvic bone, and at 13-14 weeks, it was probably about midway between my belly button and pelvic bone.

Maybe yours is high because you have a shorter torso than other women?

  • Mine is still a couple inches from my belly button.  This surprises me b/c it's my second, but at the same time I have a long torso and didn't show with DS until after 20w.

  • I think mine is about an inch below my belly button.  But it does always feel much higher when I am laying in bed in the morning.  I attributed it to the fact that my bladder was full and maybe pressing my uterus up a bit.  I have an appt on Friday, so it will be interesting to see where my midwife says it is.

  • Mine has been at my belly button for about 3 weeks or so. I have a very small/short torso so i don't have a lot of room. It was out from behind my pelvic bone at 9 weeks. My doctor was very surprised. The size of your uterus has nothing to do with the size of baby so i would not jump to conclusions that you are further along or anything if baby is measuring right. People just grow differently. You have to take what you read with a grain of salt because not everybody is the same. You have nothing to worry about!

  • Sadly, I have no clue where the heck my uterus is.  I found LO's HB last night about 3 inches below my belly button and I thought I felt the fundus at about the same place last week so who knows.
  • I have a pretty "fluffy" tummy and was just able to feel the top of the ute yesterday for the first time.  It is a couple inches below my belly button.

  • At my 16 week appointment it was about a fingers width below my belly button - I think it's almost level with my belly button now.
