1st Trimester

Can't stop eating!

This is my first pregnancy and I'm only 9 weeks along.  I have to eat like every 3 hours or I feel like I'm going to eat my chair.  I'm a plus size girl to start with (read size 16-18 jeans), and I'm trying to eat healthy (most of the time) but I have already put on 5-7lbs.  I'm only supposed to put on 20-25lbs.  I haven't had any morning sickness, I've had a few afternoon where I pretty much just feel like I have a hangover.  I don't feel the need to throw up, but I don't feel good either.  The bad part is that ice cream seems to make that feel better.  I've been trying to exercise with water aerobics and walking, but I've been SO TIRED.  Totally dragging a$$ in the afternoon/evening.  I've fallen asleep at my desk at work twice...oops!

On a side note...a couple of the pregnancy books that I have read say things like "you may have gained 1/2 a pound this month".  Does anyone really notice if they gain 1/2 a pound?  Seriously?

Anyway, just had to vent for a second.  Now I need to go find an apple or something.

Re: Can't stop eating!

  • I generally have to eat about every 2-3 hours.  I am not getting sick, but if my stomach gets empty, nausea sets in.  I am trying to make better choices on what I eat.  I have brought more "healthy" snacks to keep in my office rather than raiding the vending machine.  I was up 2.5 at my appointment on Thursday.  Honestly, I think everyone is different.  I got the "What to Expect While Expecting" book at a yard sale and the woman who owned it before me charted her weight each week.  She had all 0s or -.5s or -1s for the first trimester.  I think a lot of women who lose weight have morning sickness.  Also, some of the weight you gain is likley you retaining extra fluids.

  • I'm starting to hate those damn pregnancy books, no one's body follows a book & they make you feel like you're doing something wrong if you don't follow the "schedule."/vent

I also am eating all.the.time. If I don't, the nausea is just too much to handle at work. I've gained 9lbs since my BFP & my doctor hasn't said anything to me about being concerned or that I'm gaining to quickly, so I'm just trying to make healthy choices when I'm scarfing down all day.

  • I hear you, I am larger then you though. I have to eat about 2/3 hours otherwise I feel like I am going to be sick.

Personally I found that if I have healthier snacks, with small portions I do best. I keep carrots at work, the crunchiness is great.

I am gassy lately, so I am not sure if I have gained much weight, I will find out later this week at the doctor though.

My goal is to gain 15-20 pounds this pregnancy... key word is goal.
