Toddlers: 12 - 24 Months

Can I vent about my neighbor? (long)

I met her a few months back when we moved into this neighborhood.

She lives just down the street with her DH and DD who is only two weeks older than my DD.

I think she must be a nice woman deep down ... but when I spend time with her I leave feeling like total crap.  She is super competitive.  Very critical of herself, her DD, and others.  She talks about herself and her plans and what is important to HER.   Interrupts everyone else to talk about herself.

She is one of those people that just sucks your energy and I feel like I need to detox when I'm done hanging out with her.  I make a point to nicely *avoid* her.   I don't call her and I don't return her calls or texts, but sometimes she just happens to be where I'm at.  Like this morning we were right next door hanging out with a couple of other mom's and LO's who are really great and fun to be with.

Anyway ... this woman made a specific comment about her own DD this morning that really got under my skin.  She is a shitty mom.  Very critical of her daughter and has no tact when it comes to other people and their feelings.

I just feel like dog crap after hanging out with her.   I don't think I'll ever do it again knowing that she'll be around.

Thanks for letting me vent.    bleh ...

  • I hate people like that and I know a few of them. I feel bad for them because I think they act that way because they're insecure. Or maybe they're just shiity people. Do not let her bring you down.

What did she say about her DD?

  • Yeah I would just continue to avoid her or at least giver her a look when she makes those comments.  Maybe she will get it eventually.

She was like " A's feet are so small, last night me and my husband  were talking about the fact that we hope she's not short.  She CAN'T be short. That would really suck."

She was talking right to her DD and sitting right by me.

I'm 5'2.  My DD is much more petite than hers.   I felt like slapping her.

Oh she's just an a$$. The poor kid will grow up with low self esteem with a mother like her.

Yeah, I know.   She really bugs me.

  • Wow!! How ridiculous!! I'd avoid her at all costs. She sounds toxic.

    Biotch.

  • She sounds like a real life sucker. The other moms in your area tolerate her?

She is completely a life sucker.  I effing can't stand her.  I think the other mom's are doing just that *tolerating* her.

I have a low *** tolerance level and she's not sitting well with me today.

    :P

  • I would have had such a hard time holding my tongue.  Some people are just toxic and it is best to stay far far away from her.  I feel bad for her daughter.

I'm short too, and I probably would have said something back to her about that attitude.  And maybe along the lines of "well if her feet are small she'll look really odd if she ends up being tall.  And short ain't all that bad, at least she'll never have to worry about finding a boyfriend that has to look up to her"
