Clots - A minor vent

I have a clot and tomorrow I have to go to court 3 hours away. That means no pumping all day. Ugh. I am massaging and heat packing as much as I can tonight. Mine usually last about 36-48 hours if I work on them.

Anyone have any tips for what to do tomorrow if it's still around?

  • Sorry, I'm not exactly sure what to do as I've never had one, but wanted to say I hope it goes away by the morning.  Maybe ask over on the breastfeeding board?

  • I'm sorry that sucks.  I use a warm washcloth for a few minutes, then keep the washcloth on it while I pump.  Maybe try tomorrow morning before you leave?

If not, I'd hand express during the day to relieve some of the pressure if you can't pump.  (Would you do this normally if you can't pump? - I'd be so uncomfortable by the end of the day).

I hope to hand express. This is actually my first time in this situation. I had my whole day planned with added time to pump, but I just found out I have to go with someone else. He is planning to get there right before our hearing so there won't be any time.

I am actually more stressed about this pumping situation than my work! :)

  • I would be stressed too!  I just traveled overnight for a conference & the logistics of pumping & storing were almost more trouble than it was worth.  I ended up pumping in my rental car in a parking garage (I used an car-power to outlet adapter) - that wasn't awkward or anything!

Another thought - do you dreamfeed? DS gets frustrated when my milk isn't flowing fast enough but when he's asleep, he'll suck for a while & that tends to help get the knots out, too.

    GL at your hearing tomorrow!
