butternut squash, face up or down?

the squash had a label on it which said to cut in half and bake in a baking dish with 1/4 inch of water. I assume face down??

    You can do either. I baked one yesterday to puree for butternut squash gnocchi and did it cut side up on a cookie sheet. When I have baked it for baby food, I did cut side down in a little water.

    Hmmm...I'm sure it would be the same as acorn squash. Googling now.
