Cloth Diapering

how about cloth wipes?

I just hunted down a hand me down wipe warmer that I had stored and I have a ton of wash cloths.  What solution do you recommend?

Re: how about cloth wipes?

  • I bought a bottle of the california diaper spray and a couple little spray bottles, put a couple tsps of the diaper spray in each spray bottle and filled the rest with water.
  • Loading the player...
  • I have the CA baby diaper area wash.  I usually just give a couple sprays to DS's bottom and use the dry wash cloth to wipe up.  The bottle has a solution recipe, I *think* like 1 Tbsp of the wash to 10 Tbsp water?

  • I use BareBebe's super stars in hot water, then add more water as needed to fit the wipes into the wipes case.
  • I plan on doing this, too.  I also got CA baby spray, but I think it warns on the bottle to not mix in advance.  I am thinking of just making a few wipes damp at a time then using the spray when needed.  I have heard you have to be careful with some warmers with mold growth, but I'm hoping just wetting a few at a time will avoid this.

After I bought that spray, I had another type recommended to me, but now I can't find that link...I think it was Kissaluvs.

Yes, on the California Baby diaper area wash, when it tells you how to dilute, it says "Make only enough for one application and use immediately."  I guess there might be issues with bacteria/mold? I've wondered about the best way to use it, too.

  • Plain water.
  • I keep my wipes dry and have a spray bottle of water on the changing table.  I tried having some premoistened, but they just ended up smelling musty.

Do you use water just as you are going to use it or do you pre moisten the wipes?

  • I use plain water with Thirsties cloth wipes. We use a Munchkin warmer and it holds about 10 damp wipes, usually that's enough for 24 hours. No mold problems so far.
  • I also use a warmer.  I take the wet wipes out of the washer and put them into the warmer with a few squirts of witch hazel.  I clean it out with soap every few days to avoid mold.  For wipes I use old baby towels that were hand me downs that I cut into 6 inch squares.

We wet them just before we're going to use them.  Her nursery is by the bathroom, so before we change we just grab a wipe, wet it, and then put her on the changing pad and do our thing.

  • I use BG Bottom Spray & spray as I change her & use a dry wipe.

  • I use the dry wipes with a spray bottle method.  I just fill the bottle with water and add a small squirt of baby wash and a small squirt of baby oil. Works great, and is quick, easy and cheap!
