Trying to Get Pregnant

My vag hates me.

I accidently grabbed tampons with the cardboard applicator. Fail. I remember getting upset at H soon after we were married b/c he kept buying those for me--he didn't understand why someone wouldn't want to repeatedly stick cardboard up their vagina. I think I might have to go buy a replacement box before my period is over...I still have 3-4 days left!

Re: My vag hates me.

  • I did this once on accident too and that box of tampons is still sitting in my bathroom cabinet...never used. I should just throw them away but I hate wasting things. They're the worst though!

OK, probably TMI but I came home after we had a dogsitter & she must be really anti-flushing stuff, b/c I found used tampons in the TRASH!!!! WHO does that!??!?!

EWWWWWWWWWWWWW!!! I think I just vomited a little in my mouth.

My H's aunt told me last year that her son (who has Asperger's) dug through her trash can and made a "castle" out of the applicators...she found out when he took it around their neighborhood to show the neighbors. I about died laughing...her son will die when he gets older and hears that story!

Actually it's really bad for sewer systems to flush tampons. That's why you see signs in commercial bathrooms that say "Please do not flush feminine products."

  • I had no idea so many people had problems with cardboard.  The Tampax ones I buy, the cardboard applicator is coated so it pretty much feels like plastic.  Then again, I also always have a very light flow and buy the slim "teen" size ones.  Maybe the larger absorbancies are more of an issue.

yeah the tampax ones aren't quite as bad as store brands. I have to use the super or ultra super the first few days, so I'm sure that's one reason they bother me so much. I only use lites the last day of my flow--those don't bother me at all.

I thought that sign was for the idiots who try to flush pads and plastic applicators...  lol.  The cardboard ones I use seem to unravel into paper once they sit for a minute or two.

  • Anybody ever used Playtex Beyond? They're flushable cardboard applicators, but they are smooth. Plus, I always hated the way Tampax tampons unfold ::shudder::

The Playtex Beyond are for some reason impossible to find, and I was about to buy ridiculous amounts on the internet, when I decided to switch to a menstrual cup. Which I highly recommend.

  • Am I the only one who does not use applicators? I mean putting it in is nothing different from checking your CM.. And aren't you supposed to throw tampons in the trash because they are bad for the toilet or something?

I always used cardboard for their flushability (yeah I'm going with that lol), but when we moved to Jersey we have a septic tank and I can't flush them anymore so plastic it is.  I now change the garbage everyday during AF lol

Agreed.  But if you are putting them in the trash, they should be wrapped up really well, because it's GROSS if they aren't and why do you want to tell everyone you have your period???

  • Old pipes and plumbing (why does that work look so funny?) can totally reject all kinds of tampons and applicators. Which is why someone might throw them away, but if they had any class, they would wrap it so carefully in TP the garbage unloader should never ever know it was in there.

No, I do not use applicatirs either, you are not alone :-)

I use OB's only, because all other tampons just frak me out. They are so badly made that they kind of fall apart inside you and I am afraid that one day I would pull it out and only get the string. OB's seem to be so much better put together and I have no problem inserting them with my finger.

    I use this: https://www.mooncup.com/

I had no idea what they were until a few friends of mine who use them recommended them. At first, I accidentally got the Instead cups and *hated* them. Not for me. But the Keeper cup is comfortable, doesn't leak, and is not as messy as you might think.

  • I've never heard of a menstrual cup either.

I use the Diva cup, which comes in 2 sizes, and I am not sure how they wouldn't fit, but I lknow the instead are not the same, I have never used them, but I have heard that they are not that great. It has been a long time since I started using the cup, but if I remember right, it took a couple months to get used to putting them in right, but they are so much more convenient, that I used liners for those months, and now, I don't need anything else.

I do this too. They claim they're "flushable" but they can cause you big-time plumbing issues if they lodge in a pipe. I've known a couple people this has happened too. I just wrap 'em up and pitch 'em (I put the applicator back in the paper).
