DS has his 15 month appointment on Monday and I know he's not 20 lbs yet--he's 19 lbs something ounces.
Am I alone?
My cousin's 4 month old weights one lb less then my DS. I always worry about his weight and try and try to feed him more but he doesn't gain weight.
Re: Under 20 lbs at 15 months
DS is on the smaller side too...he just takes after his dad, tall & thin. He eats pretty well but just doesn't gain a lot of weight. He's about 25% for weight and 70% for height! He has VERY little baby fat now.
However...as long as he's healthy...it might just be his body type. There's nothing wrong with that.
My DD is 19lbs at 19 months. She was 17lbs at 15 months. She's never even hit the 1st percentile for weight. She eats great & is very healthy, but being tiny just runs in my family. I've never worried about it.
Is your DS a good eater?
My DD was 18 lbs 1 oz at her 15 month appt. Pedi was not at all concerned because she is still following the growth curve, just always consistently in the 1st percentile for weight. DD is just tiny and our pedi understands that. I always worry but at every appt, she continues to grow.
Our pedi said we only needed to be concerned if she fell off the growth curve. Her head and length are in the 30th percentile at 15 months. Ask you pedi, they will let you know what they think
DD hasn't been weighed recently, but she's probably just about 20 lbs now. Don't worry as long as your LO is healthy, active, and learning. People come in all different sizes - and children have very different growth curves.
LOL, my friend's 4-mo old is the same weight as my DD. It's funny having two kids on opposite ends of the spectrum!
another peanut here! LO went for her 15 mo appt last week and was 17lb 14oz 29"
She's always been in the 5% and her pedi isn't worry nor am I. She's active, healthy and eats just fine. I keep telling her she'll love it if she keeps this figure! I actually like having a peanut...makes it easier to lug her around!
Our Angel Boy- m/c in 2007 @ 9wks due to Trisomy 17
My 19 month is old isn't 20 pounds yet. She has a healthy appetite and is VERY active. We aren't worried.
We're not there yet, but he was 17 1/2 at 12 months, so he would have to gain 2 1/2 lbs in 3 months at his busiest period to hit 20, and I doubt that will happen with him running circles every second he's awake.
Our pedi wants us to keep working on fattening him up in addition to giving him plenty of fruits and veggies (it's a balance) but did not schedule any extra appts or feel the need for us to see a specialist.
We feel that he's healthy and just small. He did triple his birth weight.
