So I'm trying to get together some foods to freeze for when LO gets here...I hear this is typical? We live 2-3 hours from any friends and family now, so I doubt people will be stopping by with casseroles. Does anyone have recipe suggestions? How many meals should I freeze?

Re: Talk to me about your frozen foods....
I used this to build my freezer stash...

your welcome
I saved it on my tool bar for such an occasion hehe
Another really good resource is the Once A Month Mom blog. It also has tons of ideas/recipes for making baby food which you'll need before you know it.
My only suggestion....I personally wouldn't go to the extreme like that link that someone posted. I did that with my first son and we ended up throwing more than half of it away. I made several of the same meal and some, although rated high, did not turn out for us, some we didn't like and some I found took just as much time to prepare as something fresh.
The second time around I tried to recipes before we put them into our post baby freezer stash and we had some favorites, but we also incorporated buying ahead gift cards to local restaurants (and asked for them when people said.....we want to get you something, what do you need?)
All in all though, while I'm on maternity leave, I have more time than normal to cook, which is something I personally enjoy doing, so even with three kids, I'll be making special meals from scratch most nights.
We're only freezing meats. I have an apparent genetic inability (coupled with a small freezer) that makes it impossible for me to freeze whole meals without them tasting nasty upon defrosting them. My mom is also unable to freeze meals.
So we're just getting a whole lot of meats and we'll be using the crock pot for most of our dinners.
Unable to even.

Yeah, I had no intention of filling our freezer like that girl did. I guess she a culinary expert though. I love to cook but I am also reasonable. I did want a good solid 2 weeks without thinking about dinner or having to go out and buy things with LO. DH is not getting much of a paternity leave since he just started this new job, so I didn't want to depend on him for all the grocery shopping. Now, whether those 2 weeks worth of meals gets extended with take-out that DH picks up on his way home or not is in question. I don't mind having something like Qdobas for dinner. I LOVE their ancho chile BBQ burritos, I don't care how much heartburn I get afterwards (well, I do, but I never learn).
I really just wanted to know I would have some healthy meals ready while BFing because I feel like I'm the type of person to just eat cereal instead of trying to even get stuff together.
Thanks for the blog links - those will be great for ideas!
I'm planning to make some meals, but then a lot of meal supplements - turkey meatballs, bags of soup and sauce, ice cub trays full of pesto, that sort of thing.
