Baby talk

So... is it just me or do you find that people talk to you like you are a child now that you are pregnant?

Strangers literally baby talk to me. I take a prenatal yoga class and after every class when I'm leaving, the owner/manager of the gym gives me this big thumbs up and exaggerates his facial expressions and says, sort of slowly and loud "Did you have a gooood class?!?!" He seriously talks to me like I'm 5.

I was also at a Phillies game recently and when I walked through the turnstyles, the ticket taker gave me that smile, kind of like you give little kids, and said "You take your time, sweetie." WTF? I'm just walking through a turnstyle. But thanks.

Maybe it's because I'm so short (4'11") and look young, so they think I'm 16 and pregnant. I don't know. But I'm an adult. For real. 

I know things could be way worse. But I'm annoyed at everything right now, so this shiit annoys me.

    Even if you were 16, thats disrespectful. I had to stand up to DHs aunt who felt like she always had to put her arms around me and talk to me like a child.

    My mom swears that I don't get stranger bump rubs because I am short and also look very young, even though I'm almost 30.  :)  I've never had anyone talk down to me though.  I think I get a lot of stink eye cuz of the young looking factor.  Incredibly rude either way.

    I hate baby talk and I totally judge people that talk to their babies/children like that. It does NOTHING for their verbal skills...

    I'm 5'11'' and get the baby talk since I started showing. It's awkward and annoying - I agree! Everything is said in a higher pitched voice and sounds almost like a question. It sounds like they are talking AT me and not TO me and whatever my response may be, it goes in one ear and out the other. Strange, indeed!
