When are you overdue?

I'm due on December 4th. Would I be overdue on the 18th (start of week 42) Or 24th (last day of week 42)? I'm drawing a calendar of weeks 37-42 on a posterboard for my shower on Saturday so friends and family can just pencil in their name when they guess LO is due. I figure it's a simple thing to have off on the side and it'll amuse me to check in every day towards the end of the pregnancy.

    Technically your window is from 2 weeks prior to your EDD to 2 weeks after. Id say youre 'overdue' after the 18th. BUT in this day and age, OBs will induce you because you cough wrong at 38 weeks--so many wont go past 41.

    My OB Considers you overdue at 41 weeks. They won't let you go much further without an induction date set.

    My doctor also won't let me go over 41 weeks! She said too many complications arise after a week over due!

    I learned at my Bradley class last week that the normal gestation period is 41 weeks and that you technically aren't overdue until after that.  But OB's usually want to induce you by 41 weeks.

    Wow. All of you have said you'd be induced by 41 weeks. I haven't talked to my doctor about it yet but chances are it's the same. Thank you.

    My OB says 2 weeks is overdue.  DH says there's no way that's going to happen as the baby has to arrive in 2010 for the tax deduction :-)

    This. I had some complications early on and my OB said depending on the size of the baby we could talk about induction as early as 39 weeks.
