Re: bad taste in mouth...

  • I had this pretty bad a few weeks back...not sure what it was but it was gross :) and I couldn't even brush my tongue w/o vomiting!  I would suggest gum or candy...good luck :D

  • I haven't had this personally, but a friend of mine was telling me when she was pregnant, certain foods left a metallic/tangy taste in her mouth.

  • A metallic taste in your mouth is listed as one of the first symptoms of pregnancy in one of my pregnancy books.

  • Yes. I feel like that all the time. I am brushing my teeth and mouth washing constantly, even though brushing my teeth makes me gag. Its so gross though.

  • I've had this for a few weeks now.  Always in the afternoon, every day.  It's driving me nuts!  I wish it would go away!!

  • I just have a metallic taste in my mouth when I drink water. Makes me not want to drink water anymore!
  • Same problem... Lifesavers and Jolly Ranchers are a big help for me.
  • Wow, I feel better knowing all of this. I was baffled after this happened to me and didn't realize it was a symptom! Thanks!

  • This happens to me with almost everything I eat and I've had it almost the entire pregnancy so far.  Suxors.  I don't like sugary candy to mask the taste because when the candy is gone, it leaves a bad aftertaste itself (and it's bad for my teeth).  I can't stand the taste of gum right now either but I will chew a half piece of sugarless for a few minutes when I need to be around people at work and that helps.

I even get a bad taste after I brush or use mouthwash.  It's not usually a metallic taste, either, although I've also had that.  It's just a gross, enhanced post-food aftertaste.

  • Yep, I've had this.  I think just starting last week is when it didn't happen all the time.  At first it was all the time after everything I ate even gum.  I was brushing teeth and tongue after almost everything I ate.

I read somewhere that it's actually due to PNVs.
