My apologies if this is TMI.. but I'm freaking out waiting for my dr. to call me back. About half hour ago right before going to the bathroom to pee, I noticed brwn smears on my panties and so I wiped and it looked a little like I had just finished wiping from having diarhea or something.. but it didn't smell like it and I wiped my bottom, but it wasn't coming from there.
I've had spotting before from 6-8 weeks that was brownish red and less thick this was thicker and had no reddish tint to it all...if anything more yellowy green. I am now 21 weeks and haven't heard of spotting this late in the pregnancy, so I'm so weirded out and pray that my son is okay and that I'm okay.
It's just killing me to wait for the call back.. but i'm sitting down and taking it easy and hope to have helpful comments from my fellow preggers.
Re: help! "Brown Spotting"...better?
Thanks for your posts thus far... I thought it was old blood too at first since I did have some spotting from 6-8 weeks, but there was no reddish tint to it at all and actually had yellowing green tint. My second thought was could I have had a tear in my placenta or something? I still haven't heard from dr. yet. and trying not to freak myself out. I'm glad it stopped for now, but still worried.
am I the only one that was grossed out by this post?
Smeaing after diarrhea?? Poop from vagina?? ew. I cant handle just about anything, but the thought that you leak poo from your anus after diarrhea and relate that site to your spotting is a bit icky for even a poop fanatic like myself.
my GOD woman, google spotting. It can be brown, think, stringy, thick.
Its probably normal, you do not have a tear in your placenta. That would be bright red bleeding. Spotting can happen for a variety of reasons. I had some polylps on my cervix that popped and caused spotting at 14 weeks.
I'm sure you are fine.
This is the first one I've seen here that may have warranted a TMI. Bahaha. You can have poop come out of your vagina after a 4th degree tear though so it's not unheard of.
Thanks Sarah for your helpful and added comments... This really helped me feel better and less embarrassed about my scare earlier. I hope you will have as much helpful comments when you are scared and experience something you haven't before and thought you can share and ask other pregnant women b/c you feel they may actually be helpful or experience similar situations and make you feel less ashamed or embarrased about what your asking.
She'd have felt it though. Pretty sure that if there was tear in both her colon and her vag, she'd feel it. But she's obviously bleeding to death from the tear in her placenta.
good point. what would I do without you?
I didn't say she had one! I said it's possible. Don't make me go all Bad Girls Club on your ass.
I'm sorry. I cant understand extreme run on sentences. Punctuation is your friend.
Also, I would be completely ready and willing to offer my advice. I am the spotting queen, I have been through every color of the rainbow. You could have said "brown spotting". If you have picked up a pregnancy book, you would know this word exists. To compare poop to spotting, I don't know, it was the way you phrased it. I am all about being nice and I have had scares and things I did not expect, trust me my dear. I hope you find some answers from your doctor. I am sure things are fine.
This might be the first subject line ever to make me say "Ewwww!!!" and I'm a nurse.
Thank you, that was helpful, especially from a nurse.
MUCH BETTER!!!!!!
::golf claps:
Thank you for last paragraph as the top half and original comment didn't sound as nice as you say you are. That was a run on sentence but pretty understandable where you can get my point (didn't realize this was english class) and I have a few pregnancy books. But to be serious, I had a miscarriage and brown spotting before at 8 wks with this pregnancy, but since this was very very different from the old blood or "spotting" I had back then, I described it differently as best as I could just in case someone had similar issue and can help. I always think that being specific would better help someone help me. I did apologize in advance for TMI but have now changed some of my wording to avoid negative comments. I do sincerely thank you for your positive comments and wanted to simply explain myself.
I think she did. I can't see where she says she called but she's waiting on the call back. I assumed she meant her Dr.
WHAAAAAAATTTTTT??? i wish i could un-know that. and i laughed so hard at these posts that i almost choled to death on my delicious cupcake.
Unfortunately I have too. Medical billing is often TMI. Bahaha.
Relax... some women here are already "too experienced to deal with newbies" and tend to be sarcastic and somewhat rude.
But there are still women here (like me) that still understand the way you feel, and yes sometimes brown discharge can look like poop because of its consistency, but you can never have poop out of your vagina, unless you have a very rare physical condition where there is some kind of hole and I know that sounds very weird, but it does exist...
You should do bed rest, drink plenty of water and wait for your doctor. Try to not be too stressed out and ask the Lord to give you peace, and pray that your baby will be fine, and I know he will.
I know things like this can be very scary, but you'll see everything is alright.
Also if you have yellow-greenish discharge, that is probably an infection, and sometimes infections can cause spotting, depending on how strong they are, so make sure you tell your doctor about it too, its probable old blood from the irritation that the infection is causing...
Take care!
So liiiike, is it possible for poop to come out of your vagina or not??
(totally kidding)
OP- sounds like old spotting and I'm sure you're fine, but I hope your doc calls you back soon to reassure you!
To the rest of you, well, I honestly didn't expect the responses to this post to make me LOL, but they did. And now that I know the consequences of a 4th degree tear, I might just have to schedule a c-section. So thanks for that.
Thank you so much for your understanding, mature, and gracious positive comments...
I finally got a call back from my dr. (kinda late) and she urged me to go to the "labor and delivery" at my hospital to check for any dilation / contractions of my cervix and to check the source of the blood.
