male nesting?

I swear my husband has started nesting.  Usually he doesn't care about how messy the house is and I'm the one who does most of the cleaning...I have to beg him to take out the trash!  A few days ago I started to notice the house getting cleaner (I knew it wasn't because of me, I'm way to tired to clean!).  Yesterday I couldn't find my husband and went into his "music" room only to find him organizing his CDs (something I've been asking him to do since we moved over a year and a half ago).  When I asked him what had gotten into him he said that he had no idea, that all of a sudden everything in his life needs to be clean and organized.  Ever since he's been a cleaning tornado!  I'm not complaining, just mystified!  Has anyone else ever heard of male nesting?

  • I thought it was a myth. My DH couldn't care less about helping me around the house.

  • It's true. We do it. For me, it comes in waves. A week or two of furious activity, a week or two of "normal", then another wave of nesting.
  • Man...I wish my DH would start nesting. That would be great! I asked him to clean the toilets this past weekend so, he went out and bought new toilets and installed them.  I know....crazy, right?  I explained to him that he couldn't buy new toilets everytime it is time to clean them.  He said he knew that, but he wanted new ones anyways because he likes the chair height kind.  Anyway, I thought it was pretty funny.

  • My dh usually does about the same amount of housework as me, and since ive been feeling so tired hes definitely been bugging me about cleaning up. hes also seen me reading pregnancy books and worrying if he should be reading something too. this was after several weeks of i think not really believing we were pregnant. after we heard the heartbeat it seems so real and hes been more into it.

  • My DH is doing this a bit, too, although I think part of it is due to the fact that my dad visited us a couple of weeks ago and did some work on the house, so now DH feels motivated to continue the work.  Either way, I am loving it.  I find I am nesting as well so we are a good team.

LOL. Yup....mine can be the same way. We do split the chores..but for some reason I get the short end of the stick.

  • Same thing here!  Doing WAY more than normal and I'm not complaining! :)
  • I get the whole stick, lol. Seriously. He hasn't mowed in close to three weeks, I'd say, which is the only thing he does voluntarily. He doesn't even get the mail (which is 95% his anyway)! He knows it bothers me, I mean, he can't even put his dishes in the dishwasher? But even if I ask him to help, he gives me this face and moans about it. We both work, we're both in school, and now I'm pregnant... Where's the help? I think he needs a swift a$$ kicking Angry
