I had DD in February (Valentine's Day), and we're thinking about when we might want to start trying for #2. Although I know you can't always really plan when you get preggo, what do you think is the best month to be due and why? Here are things I've considered: Not being very preggo in the summertime since I live in the South, being able to take baby outside in the sun and pool (our pedi doesn't want us doing this until LO is 6 mos), not wanting LO to start daycare during flu season since #2 will likely start daycare at 3 mos old, not really wanting to be due right around Christmas... What do you think is the best month to be due (or get pregnant, but everyone's pregnancy lasts different amts of time) and why?
Re: What is the best month to be due and why?
I feel like with all of your stipulations, you've basically cut out every month!
If I could plan things perfectly for number 2, I'd love to get pregnant right after new years. That way I could have fun over christmas/new years (aka drink) and then I'd still be due before thanksgiving.
DD was born in March and that worked well for us, too.
DD was born Jan 3 and it has been great! She was wee little during the winter months when there wasn't much to do anyway. And she was big enough this summer where we could actually do stuff - go swimming, go to the fair, go on picnics, etc.
Plus, when i was huge, it was around Christmas, so i had the excuse to bail on stuff that i didn't feel like doing.
Liam was born in March, which is great for us - we wanted to have the option for an outdoor party, and the weather in March is beautiful here (as opposed to June-October). Plus, March is usually a pretty boring month (with the notable exception of corned beef and cabbage!), so that was good timing.
Other months we like are: April, and October. No big things going on in those months, and the weather is gorgeous. I'd like for LO #2 to be an October baby
If I could plan it, I would love to be due some time between March & May. The weather seems milder -- much better than January, the birth month of DD.
Also, there's just something special for me about the idea of having a baby while the world is waking up from Winter.
This for me, too. I had both of my babies in April and it's a good month to have 'em, IMO. I was never too pregnant in the hot, sticky Summer and the snow was pretty much gone by the time I had them.
I wasn't too thrilled when DD was going to be born in the Fall only because of the whole age cut-off issue with school. We're going to hold her back, at least she'll be older than a majority of her class.
I think we are going to try for a June baby next time.
DH is a teacher and would be *almost* done with the school year and then would be home to help out with DS and we would be off at the same time.
It isn't too hot here yet. No snow to deal with and I could still wear a lot of my maternity clothes from #1 (especially work clothes, since my office is a frozen tundra.)
Outdoor birthday parties!
No major holidays/other birthdays in our families. DH and his sister share a birthday (not twins) and they hate it. :P
Happy Birthday, little man. We love you so much!
My favorite money saving tip: I've earned more than $300 in gift cards (Amazon, Starbucks, Southwest!) using SwagBucks for internet searching - and you can too! It's FREE and EASY!
The only drawback is it will be too cold on her bday to celebrate outdoors. But I hope our next one is born around the same time. (1ht)
That is what I was thinking.
I want my next to be a December baby.
I didn't say it had to meet ALL of the criteria. Those are just things I've considered.
The end of February worked well for me. No fear of snow storms, I wasn't hugely pregnant in the heat of summer, when it was cold out, I was too hot to worry about wearing a coat!
The only complaint I have about February is that I had to come back to school (I'm a teacher) for like a month. It was horrible!! The end of May works well for teachers!
