Delivering at INOVA (any of them)

does anyone know if they are putting the restrictions back on visitors like they had last year with H1N1 going around?

Re: Delivering at INOVA (any of them)

  • I live next door to INOVA Fairfax (literally...I walked over to deliver #2 since it was faster than driving;) and last year they had huge lit up signs out front last year advertising the restrictions on visitors due to H1N1. I have not seen those signs yet, but it is a bit early.  I would guess that you'll get the best info by going on a tour of the hospital you're planning to deliver at.

  • I was at INOVA Alexandria last night for the maternity tour and they said that so far, they have no plans to put the restrictions in place but it will be a continuing re-evaulation as they get further into the flu season.  The nurse who gave us our tour said the best place to check is the website because the policies would be updated there frequently.

She also said that due to the upcoming flu season, they are likely to bend their 48 hour rule and send moms and babies home early if they are meeting all the milestones and doing well.
