We "saw" the hb on the ultrasound at 7w5d. We tried to hear it on the doppler at 10w5d, but couldn't. She did another u/s, and we could still "see" it beating nice and strong.
You can hear the heartbeat as early as 6 weeks. I went through IVF, and they have us ladies do a lot of ultrasounds in the beginning. Now, whether or not your OB will check that for you at your appointment is a different question. Good luck!

You can see it on an u/s but it is too early to hear with a doppler.
I think it's typically between about 10-12 weeks. I doubt they would try to listen for it on the doppler at 8 weeks, but I could be wrong.
Most women on the May board that got an ultrasound in the 6th week were able to hear the heartbeat. By the 8th week you should be able to hear it.
"Hearing" it and "seeing" it are two different things. Hearing it is done w/ doppler without the sonogram, and most people quote 10-12 weeks as the time you first are able to hear it. Seeing it is done w/ visual ultrasound, and around 6 weeks is typical : ).
Exactly what I was going to say. You aren't hearing the actual heartbeat at a 6 week ultrasound, you're hearing the ultrasound machine create a sound based on the heartbeat it sees. I've had ultrasounds at 6/7 weeks with both pregnancies.

I know that. Sorry I should've been more clear. A lot of people consider that noise "hearing" the heartbeat because it's actually associated with the heartbeat and you can see it beating. That's what I meant. Sorry
I think you can hear the heartbeat as early as 6 weeks. But, I think it depends on how powerful your Dr's doppler is. We heard and saw our LO's heartbeat at 8w6d.
Three angel babies...I think it's time for a change
I had my 8 week appointment today - they bumped me up to 8w4d based on ultrasound measurements. And it was a traditional ultrasound, not a trans-vag. We could easily see the heartbeat, and she turned the sound up as high as it would go trying to hear it. We picked up my heartbeat, but not the babys. Baby's hb was at 189bpm!

So, probably you won't be able to hear it yet.

Nope. Not usually before 10 weeks, but if they do a u/s you would be able to see it.
