Tell me your hummus recipe please. I made it for the first time the other day, and it turned out fine, but I'm curious to know a few variations so I can try out something new. (I'm trying to get rid of my ranch dip habit so this is a good alternative)
Re: NTR: Hummus Recipe
4 cloves garlic - peeled
It keeps fresh for quite a while in the fridge. In all honesty I usually add more garlic and more lemon juice but try it this way first and go from there. I have had nothing but rave reviews whenever I make it and it's so simple.
2 cups drained chickpeas - save some of the liquid
1 1/2 teaspoon salt
1/3 cup tahini
6 tablespoons lemon juice - about 2 lemons
2 tablespoons chickpea juice
8ish dashes hot sauce
Blend until smooth!
2 cans drained chick peas
4-6 cloves of garlic (depending on how you like it)
1 tsp cumin
1 tsp paprika
juice of 2 lemons
salt, pepper to taste
Add all ingredients in a food processor. Drizzle olive oil into mix until smooth and creamy.
You can add roasted red peppers, sun dried tomatos, kalamata olives, green onions, shallots, or even dill! I'm off to make some right now!
i like adding a bit of plain (yogurt) to mine and reduce the oil. i just prefer the texture. so, its a can of chickpeas, tahini (around 2 T), a lemon and the a few spoonfuls of yogurt and a drizzle of olive oil. oh, and garlic.
cumin and paprika, of course...i also love fresh parsley.
