Ovidrel vs HCG trigger shot

For those of you who had experience with both of these, did you find that you metabolizied one quicker than the other?

For my first three IUIs, I did the HCG trigger, and it took about 6 days to metabolize it.

For this last IUI, I did Ovidrel. I took the shot on Thursday, and tested with a HPT today, and came back as a BFN, so it looks like it's out of my system (after only 4 days).

No lives are hinging on this information...just curious to see if anyone else metabolizes one faster than the other. TIA! Smile

Or...I just thought of something...would Ovidrel not show up on a HPT??

Re: Ovidrel vs HCG trigger shot

  • Ovidrel is an HCG trigger shot, isn't it? I always had positive peesticks for about 6-7 days with ovidrel although everyone is different.

This and yes, Ovidrel is a HCG trigger.

  • They are different though. I have had both as well and noticed that they do seem to metabolize differently... I am not sure how much HCG is in each. I had 10000 units HCG in the office and the 250 mcg Ovidrel. I thought the Ovidrel was out of my system faster...

  • Yes they are molecularly different just slightly, but they are both HCG and I would imagine the rate you metabolize depends on the dosage and the person.

I agree with Yellow_Daisy. I think there is a slight dosage difference between the 2 hence the general difference in how long it is in your system.  I do wonder though if it metabolizes quicker based on outside influences too (like if you do Ovidrel 2 separate cycles and test out the trigger both times, would it take longer/shorter depending on what you eat, if you work out more or less, if you are sick during 2ww one cycle and not the other, etc)...  Hmmmm, another IF mystery :)
