Shock #1 was that we actually got a BFP. Shock #2 (at 8 weeks) was that we are expecting twins - which, even until today, still has us in shock.
I just got back from my First Tri Screening, and Shock #3 is... IDENTICAL BOYS!!!! The statistical odds of natural identical twins are 3 in 1,000. What is even nuttier is that my M-I-L is an identical twin, and this is not something that is heriditary - just pure fluke.
We were not going to find out the genders, but totally broke when asked if we wanted to know.

Re: Shock number 3!
Wow! Congrats.
Hopefully you've lurked enough around here to know that you probably don't need to go painting the room blue at 13 weeks. It's reeeeally early for sex determination just yet.
Congrats again on the identical twins!
Wow, that is cool. Many congrats!!
Thanks all. And the funny thing is we decided to paint the room blue no matter the gender.
wow! congratulations!
wow! that's awesome.
question - how have your symptooms been in comparison to what you read around here? do you feel the symptoms were elevated in comparison to what the norm appears to be?
i know, tough question to answer.
Congrats! My MIL is also a twin and she has identical twin brothers. DH's cousin's are also identical twins.
DH keeps talking like, "Maybe we'll have twins." I'm like, the odds of that are slim to none!
You lucky thing!
Congrats
Haha! Love it.
You all are so sweet, and I really thank you all for such nice wishes!
As for symptoms, I have been one of the ones on here that have kind of laid low when it comes to posts on m/s, weight gain, and everything else, because I have seemed to have had a breeze of a first tri. No m/s (with the exception of some queaziness in the car one day only around my 7th week - and it was a windy, bumpy drive), and I have only gained about 4 lbs total in my first tri, and most of that has been in the last week or so. My boobs have been somewhat sore, but not too bad, and I have slept like a champ. I haven't even been that moody or exhausted (but I have been somewhat tired on and off). If anything, I would say that nothing indicated that we were having twins if you go strictly by pregnancy symptoms.
What other kind of twins are there? Plastic, fake, alien?
All babies are natural, even the ones born to mother's with infertility issues who used meds and treatments to get pregnant.
Congratulations on your babies, I hope you have a happy and healthy 9 mths.

I was trying to convey that these were "spontaneous" twins, but I am pretty sure you know that.
why not just use the word spontaneous then? you know, since that is actually what they are.

I can't wait for the "im getting a divorce" post in 5 years or so because your husbands were fed up with your disgusting chair asses from playing on the knot all day and getting fired 4-5 times for not doing any work. you guys are all winners!! ~ Laur929
I will from now on.
