What is the best brand of bottles to buy and why? Does it even matter? I'm planning to breastfeed, but at some point will introduce LO to bottles and I have no idea what type to buy? Help!
I know there's a whole section on bottles in the Baby Bargains book but I can't remember what it said right now. Great book though, I am totally clueless about baby products and it has helped me a lot.
With DD I had a couple of different ones to figure out what she liked best. She rarely took a bottle, but when she did, she preferred the Born Free glass bottles. I tried the Dr Brown's but they were too much of a hassle for us, and she didn't like them. She didn't like cheap Target ones either. So I would suggest just getting a few different ones to see what your LO likes.
Good luck! I was totally overwhelmed by "the bottle" questions with DD, haha.
I was just at Baby's R Us yesterday, and one of the employees recommended buying just a couple bottles from each of the major brands. She said definitely not to buy one of the big sets until you figure out which bottle your baby will take to best. I thought it made sense.
I plan to breastfeed if possible but once I go back to work will need bottles for daycare. I plan to register for the Dr Brown's and maybe one other brand but not sure yet which one.
I have heard from other breastfeeding moms that The First Years Breastflow bottles are good. They say they mimic breastfeeding, so it's easier to transition.
I'm planning on trying a couple different kinds with LO. I think it just depends on your baby what works best for you.

We've registered for the Born Free glass bottles at Babies 'R' Us. I detest hand washing so it's nice that I can run at least the bottle part through the dishwasher and know that it's truly clean!!! You can also buy silicone covers to go on them (not through Babies 'R' Us unfortunately) if you're worried about them being dropped and breaking. Hope this helps!

Like PPs have said, I wouldn't decide on anything for sure until you see how your LO does with different brands.
That being said, at this point, the most important aspect in my decision making now is how many parts the bottle has. I do not want to be washing bottles with tons of parts, like Dr. Brown's if I don't have to. I really hope the Playtex dropins will work for us!
We are planning on breastfeeding also and wanted to get a bottle that mimics the breast. We liked Tommee Tippee the best, but I've also heard great things about Breastflow. We only registered for a few because we know some babies prefer certain bottles, so we'll see!

I HATED Dr. Browns. They have too many parts and the little beige valve gets moldy really easy and no matter what I used (bleach, scrubbers, ect) it wouldn't come off.
I loved playtex drop ins.

hmmm, I've heard nothing but good things about dr browns, I may have to rethink my selections. I have cleaned them before but that was back in 2003 for my boss's youngest son and don't remember it having a lot of extra parts.
I think it depends on the kid and what they prefer. We use Dr Browns and the kids have really liked them. They are a pain to clean though as a pp mentioned.
Maybe my opinion will change after I have a baby, but for now, I think that if the baby is hungry enough, he/she will drink out of whatever you are offering. When we were babies, there were only 2 kinds of bottles. They both had the same nipple though, so there wasn't really much in the way of options. Even though we have options now, I just think the baby will figure it out, lol I plan to use playtex drop-ins because I think they're convenient.

you shouldn't buy a ton of bottles or paci's until you know what your baby will take.
that being said, we wound up using Playtex drop-ins with DS. never tried any others, he never had any problems with those.
