This is my first time using it. I have used the OV Watch in the past, but also used OPKs because I didn't 100% trust that the watch was really doing anything.
Are you using OPKs in addition to the monitor? I noticed on some charts that are using monitors that they are using OPKs too, but I am confused, aren't the test strips OPKs too? Should I be using OPKs in addition to the monitor? How do you like it?
I thought it would make for a stress free cycle, but not so much, it is early though.
Re: CBE Fertility Monitor Users, Please Come In!
This is my first cycle using the FM. I love it! I did test with OPKs a few days just to kind of confirm what the monitor was saying (since it was my first month), but I don't think I will too much next month if I don't get a BFP this cycle. I did a lot of research and some people use both just to verify, but I find OPKs kind of picky and I really only get 1 positive one and a whole lot of hmm, is that positive or not thinking...so I think I will just retire them!
I am not temping, so I am relying solely on the monitor. It is detecting LH, correct? The OV watch did not, so that is why I backed it up with OPKs.
Maybe I should take the "obsess less" road and just go with it and see how it pans out.
Yours may have been one of the ones I saw backed up with an OPK!
It measures LH and also estrogen and it's supposed to give you a few more days notice of when to start trying. Mine has been pretty accurate. My first cycle I had 2 high readings, then2 peak and I ovulated on the 2nd peak day. My second cycle I only got 2 peak readings and I ovulate the day after my 2nd peak. It's not consistent but I am ovulating around the same time I'm getting high/peak readings. Unfortunately I don't have a success story since I'm not pregnant yet.
I am assuming that Peak days would be days of +opk, but like Winkski said, it isn't uncommon to get a -opk on peak day 2...I have noticed that on at least 2 of my cycles, ovulation occurred the day after and up to 2 days past my last +opk, so I should probably consider myself fertile a few days past peak, especially since I plan not to temp. Maybe I should temp until O is confirmed. Urgh, so much for not obsessing, I haven't even gotten there yet and here I am mulling over what I should do! lol
I just started using the CBEFM this month, so I am by no means an expert, however, from what I have read, the CBEFM goes on "autopilot" immediately after the first peak day is detected and gives you a second peak day right after. That explains why a lot of women are getting negative OPKs on their second peak day. HTH.
