1st Trimester

Spotting with sex

The last 3 or 4 times my husband and I have had sex, I have had spotting immediately afterwards, and it seems to be getting worse each time. We keep waiting a week after every time it happens just like the Dr. said, but it just keeps happening. Before I call my dr. and have to go in for yet another appointment, I thought I would ask you ladies if anyone had experienced this before, and if I should be concerned?? ( oh and Im 12 1/2 weeks right now)

Re: Spotting with sex

  • I've heard it's normal, but you could always call your doctor if you're concerned.

  • It's considered normal to spot after sex or an internal ultrasound - anything that might irritate the cervix.

Call your doc - he may advise you to wait a little longer in between.

    GL!

  • We had this happen pretty soon after BFP. I had cramping during and after sex and spotting a little while later. We were told to wait until symptoms stopped to have sex again. We waited 8 days then did it, and I had cramps and spotted again, only worse. We were told 8 days wasnt long enough and to wait longer before trying again. (Although frustratingly no one seemed willing to venture an estimate of how long to wait)

We had sex last night, after waiting 3 weeks. I didnt cramp at all during or after and have been completely spotting free.

Hopefully its just a minor bump in the road for you, and everything works out fine.

  • I spotted a lot during the first tri, especailly after sex.  I would wear a panty liner and see how much you are spotting and what color it is.  For ME I never spotted very long and it was always very dark or brown.  But like pp said call the OB if you are worried about it.  HTH

  • I also heard that it is normal to spot after sex. But of coarse if you feel concern call your doc. Don't worry about going in too much because I am sure that your doc is more than willing to ease any fears you have. Remember that's their job. GL!
