HELP!! Tired of wrestling an alligator!

Hello,

I haven't been on here much, but I decided to stop by and ask for help. My almost 11 month old is fine in every department except for changing time. It is driving me NUTS. Just changing his diaper or dressing him is a work out. I really feel like I am wrestling a twisty turny alligator.

Any tips will be MUCH appreciated :)

    Colin is the same way. I have to either hold him down or distract him by giving him something that will hold his attention for 30 seconds. It's such a pain and I hate changing him!

    I wish they made 5-point harnasses for a changing table Big Smile I may invent one myself haha

    It's HORRIBLE. I don't know what else to do. Toys worked for a while, but now he just wants to be free and crawl away at rapid speed.

    lol. You should! I would buy it. DD is the same way and toys stopped working for us also. Yesterday she got away from me so fast and than pee'ed on the carpet. UGH!

    I think I've pretty much mastered putting on a diaper while he's standing up. Sometimes I give up and let him roam for a couple minutes sans diaper. He gets to air out and I get to de-frustrate myself. Usually after a few times he gives in and lets me do it.

    Isn't it sad that I really laid in bed last night thinking of an invention for my problem.haha

    When I thought of some sort of strap system..an "abuse alert" went off in my head. Then I figured he is strapped into everything else..swings/high-chair/stroller. What's one more thing! I could totally work around the straps and buckle. It's for safety Idea

    I haven't even thought of standing up for a diaper change! That's how I put his pants on now. I'll have to give it a try. It sounds tricky!

    Mason is the same way. He pretty much screams and whole time until I let him go. Half of the time the diaper isnt even on. I might have to try it with him standing as well because mirrors, toys, even my phone doest work to keep him occupied anymore.

    SOMETIMES a book helps...but that's hit or miss :)

    If all else fails he is getting bumped up to big boy pull-ups, and I'll just use chip clips on each side to keep them on lol Problem solved. Stick out tongue

    I don't have any advice.  Just wanted to say I go through the same thing.  Most diaper changes result in poo everywhere....and bedtime chaning usually consists of wrestling and fussing.  I don't look forward to that 5 mins of getting him diapered and dressed after his bath.

    Ugh! Tell me about it... after bath is the worst part of my night. It's a two-parent job... I have to call in for back up and assitance.

    I have to give him sommething to play with and work fast. Also, sometimes singing ar talking funny helps his mood. Good luck!

    ROFL.

    We actually had to record 3 of his favorite commercials and we play them and rewind whenever he's changed.  It's the only way right now to keep him still.

    I have the same problem.  I have to give him something "forbidden" like a hairbrush or closed bottle of mylicon or something.  Then he will lay still (for the most part) so I can finish him up.  Then when I take the item away, he screams but the job is done. ;)

    yeah, I kinda do the same thing. I give him something I would not normally let him have and he is happy/distracted for 30 sec while I change him quickly!

    We have the same problem. Even worse, the minute you take off his diaper, he reaches down there to grab himself. If it's a poopy diaper, he gets poop everywhere! Then he fights and screams and scoots away the whole time you're trying to clean him up.
