Mine was at 4 weeks and change, but I was seeing an RE and they needed to confirm that the pregnancy was in the ute.
Since then I have had five more scans, but again, that's because I have history of loss and they wanted to make sure the pregnancy was progressing normally.
Mine was at 7w1d... but it was a dating u/s... we had no idea how far along we actually were... next one isn't until 18 weeks... I want one every week!
I had one at 5w3 days because I had a lot of spotting before my BFP. Had another at 7w4d because all we saw on the first was the gestational sac and my doc wanted to make sure things were progressing properly.
Actually most insurance companies only cover the anatomy scan near 20 weeks. Some may offer to cover additional u/s (eg one near the beginning of pregnancy to confirm age, NT scan at 12w, size estimations near the end, ect)
Everyone's insurance and doctor's do things differently. Unless you were specifically told you will be getting an u/s at your first appointment AND it will be covered by your insurance (or you're prepared for a nice bill), do not get your hopes up.
My doc uses a portable u/s at first visit. They checked things were developing normally and there was a h/b. Since it was portable, I didn't get any pics.
Mine will be on 9/30 (6 weeks) but I am considered high risk due to multiple miscarriages and Hashimoto's Thyroiditis, so they want to get a peek early.
With DD#1, I didn't get an u/s til 9 weeks. With DS, I didn't get one til 20 weeks. With DD#2, I got one at 11 weeks because they wanted to check that there was only one in there (I used Clomid).
DD#1 11/7/04
DS#1 6/24/06
Chemical Pregnancy 6/08
DD#2 1/28/10 after secondary infertility, Clomid, & acupuncture
missed m/c 6/2010 at 8 weeks (baby stopped growing @ 5.5)
DS born sleeping 1/13/2011 due to cord accident at 22 weeks.
DD#3 3/10/2012
